Spotify thinks I'm not connected to the internet

The Internet connection is fine, the proxy settings in the application are off, but Spotify still thinks it is offline, reinstalling the application did not help. MacBook Pro 2020 Mac OS Monterey 12.3.1

Hi there @raregods2!

It's worth checking your Firewall settings and making sure Spotify is allowed to access your network. You can also check your hosts file for any entries with Spotify and remove them by following these steps:

  1. Go to Finder > Go > Utilities and open the Terminal.
  2. Enter the following command: sudo nano /etc/hosts to open the hosts file.
  3. When the file is opened, you will see a block of text with # in front of each line and might see entries like 127.0.0.1 website2.com.
  4. Check for any entries with spotify or fastly in the address. Examples may look like 0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com or 0.0.0.0 prod.b.ssl.us-eu.fastlylb.net. If you do find any, you can delete the line.
  5. Save your changes and restart the Spotify app.

Flushing your DNS cache could also help here, so feel free to try that as well - just enter the following command in the Terminal: sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder. If you're using a VPN, try disabling it temporarily to see if that does the trick.

Let us know how it goes. Cheers!

Hey @raregods2,

Thanks for the reply.

Give a clean reinstall a go, as described here. Try the steps again and if it doesn't work, post a screenshot of what you're seeing, we didn't receive the last one.

It's also important to try a different internet connection and turn off any VPN connections, if you're using such.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!
