Transfer Local Files folder and their position in playlists from old Mac to new Mac

Solved!

Transfer Local Files folder and their position in playlists from old Mac to new Mac

Hi,

Is there any way I can transfer my "Local Files" folder in Spotify from my old Mac to my new one I bought yesterday? I haven't installed spotify on the new one yet, but if I do, I know that all my playlists will be synced. The songs that are available in Spotify will work perfectly, but the ones that I added myself probably won't be recognised anymore.

I have however transfered my iTunes library to the new Mac, so that hasn't changed. (All the Local Files have been imported from iTunes)
Will Spotify recognise their location automatically? Or will I have to import all songs again?

Thanks

Hello there and welcome to the community,

If your local files are saved on the new computer and if the right source is enabled in Preferences, Spotify will find them.

I used to drag and drop them directly from the iTunes window into my Spotify playlists. I checked the location of all my local songs in Spotify and it reveals them in finder in the iTunes library map. So that should be OK, because I copied the whole library to my new Mac. But will it automatically put those songs back in Local Files if I install Spotify on my new mac and log in with the same account?

iTunes music sharing with Spotify isn't on and there is no other content source (i.e. other folders like desktop,...)

Normally yes, itunes is one of the sources that you can enable or any other folders where your songs are saved.
