spotify app won't load on mac os

When I open the app, I can see all my playlists on the left side, but the main screen looks like it's continually loading. I'm not in offline mode. I've done a clean reinstall of the app; this doesn't solve the issue. When I download an older version of the app, it works (until spotify force updates the app and it stops loading again.)

This is what my screen looks like when i open Spotify app. Also, spotify works normally on all other devices including the website version. Thanks!

Hey @eo41526

Have you tried clearing your Hosts File? Clearing it often helps with strange loading behaviors.

Thanks for your advice, but I've just checked my hosts file and there is no line with spotify in it.

Every single time I open my MacBook to play Spotify I have to spend at least 10-15 minutes waiting for it to load, clicking everywhere on a black screen. When the playlists DO appear, everything is greyed out saying content isn’t available.

Time to effing PLEASE stop effing around and just add a SIMPLE REFRESH BUTTON OMFGGGG.
It’s aggravating as F to see there are discussions made about this over 5 years ago and this still hasn’t fking been fixed.

NO- I won’t uninstall and reinstall. NO- I won’t log out and back in (way too much of a hassle) NO- I won’t support another discussion. I created this one for *today* not lumping in with the old discussions that Spotify ignores.
FIX IT!!

Hey @Shld,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

Just to check, how long have you've been experiencing this issue? Did you notice if this began happening at any specific points? For example, after completing an app update or with a new OS update.

There's currently this issue, which sounds similar to what you're describing. It's currently being investigated by our team, so feel to have a look at that thread for more info.

Keep us posted!
