My Question or Issue

So I have gaming headphones that have a 7.1 surround sound function that can be toggled. When headphones are set to normal stereo, everything is fine, but when I turn 7.1 on the bass gets distorted and there is an awful kind of buzzing sound(like an old radio when it loses signal) every time there is stronger bass.THIS ONLY happens on spotify.Any fixes?

Hey @-_-DropTheBeat,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

I'd be great for you to try two things:

  1. Ensuring the audio device is set as default audio output in the Windows' sound settings.
  2. Reinstalling Spotify to clear out any potential file issues.

You may also try disabling the onboard audio (e.g. Realtek) in Device Manager, so that your gaming headphones will be the only (and always default) audio device.

Hope you'll find this useful. Let us know how you get on and if there's anything else we can help with!

By disabling realtek do you mean the software too?

Hey @-_-DropTheBeat,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

To further clarify and answer your last question, yes. You should access your Device managerSound, video and game controllersRealtek High Definition Audio under the list of audio device drivers. Then, it should be possible to right-click and select Disable.
