My Question or Issue
I'm not able to queue new songs for play. I'll right click to add to queue and Spotify will ignore my selection and go on playing whatever it had already queued.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I uninstalled and re-installed to
1.0.88.353.g15c26ea1 (Windows Store version)
Did not fix the bug
- start playing on iPhone app
- open desktop app (windows)
- pick song
- add to queue
- song not added to queue
If I had to guess, this is an internal AB test, where some people are getting the new version via the autoupdater, but the published packages on the download page and windows store are stuck on the old version.
If your version is 1.0.88.353.g15c26ea1, and not 1.0.89.313.g34a58dea, then you haven't received the latest update and have to wait until it's pushed to everyone.
The iPhone app was updated about two days ago, however this change alone doesn't fix the issue, you need the new desktop version as well.
This is all the information I've been able to piece together over the last two days of frustrated testing and info on various threads here regarding this issue.
There's an update on another thread -- https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Can-t-add-to-queue-or-remove-from-queue-when-using-C... -- says that the latest iOS (8.4.70.686) version didn't resolve the issue.
I still contend that it's linked to the version of the Desktop app too, I've tested the queue in multiple situations:
Controller -> Listening Device
------------------------------------
iPhone -> Chromecast (working)
Desktop -> Chromecast (broken)
iPhone -> Desktop (working)
Desktop -> iPhone (broken)
Android -> Chromecast (working)
Desktop -> Android (broken)
Android -> Desktop (working)
Note that I've not yet been able to get the latest version of the desktop software -- 1.0.89.313.g34a58dea -- I've been stuck on -- 1.0.88.353.g15c26ea1 -- and haven't received any update notification, and have been checking regularly.
I'm trying to keep tabs on how this is progressing, for anyone else, these appear to be the other two threads with moderator/spotify updates:
I have this problem too (Desktop to Anroid 7.0). It only started being a problem a few days ago. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify on my Windows 7 Desktop but to no avail. Can't remove from queue either. Spotfiy webplayer to Android however is working fine.
Not sure if I'm the last guy to get this resolved, but here's what I know now.
I received desktop version -- 1.0.89.313.g34a58dea -- after another routine uninstall-reinstall today. iOS (8.4.70.686) will now queue in conjunction with this desktop version.
To anyone still experiencing this issue, uninstall and reinstall the application. It may request an internal update after installation, to check go to the menu -> help -> about section in the app after reinstallation. I had to do this for the Windows 10 version of the application.
Hopefully, this is the end of the saga.
I'm sorry, I uninstall (I can only do this via the Microsoft Store, I have no clue why they compell me to work this way) and I get version 1.0.88.353.g15c26ea (Windows Store version).
When I want to uninstall the version on the spotify website, I uninstall it from my PC, but then re-installing gives me "you already have this software, go to the windiows store to update. It's extermely irritating when systems do prevent me from doing what I want. Arrogance of big players who think they do not need clients.
BUT.... the queue works! "Add to queue" adds songs right after the one playing now, it does noet add them to the end of the queue, which is what I would expect. In sonons you can choose between these options.
Alas I have reinstalled Spotify, version 1.0.88.353.g15c26ea1. It did not ask me for an update. I still have the problem with Windows 7 (my work laptop).
LIke others - I have (finally) been able to download version 1.0.89.313.g34a58dea (Windows Store version)
And all is fixed. So....my remaining question is why is Spotify so silent on this? Where is the pinned post on this message board saying
"Hi All,
Spotify here. Yes there is a bug. Sorry. We know it exists. Usually happens when you start on a mobile and try to add to a queue on a desktop. We are working on a fix and will keep you updated"
then
"HI All
we fixed it. Updates are being pushed now. Look out for version 1.0.89.313.g34a58dea (Windows Store version)"
Very easy to write. Wonder why Spotify left us to swirl around wondering what was going on
Hey folks,
Thanks for raising this issue with us on the Community.
This should now have been resolved (see here). However, if you are still experiencing issues, please do let us know. We're here to help 🙂
Take care,

Won't have the opportunity to try until later this evening, but I highly doubt an iOS fix will help me on my Windows machine. Is there a plan to release a Windows app update?
In the thread we've been talking about the update to the Windows app that resolved the issue. This has now been verified by many independent users across OS platforms. The windows application needs to be at version -- 1.0.89.313.g34a58dea -- for you to get the fix. If your software isn't at this version, you can uninstall/reinstall the app on your windows machine and it should try and get the latest version on first run. From my testing the Windows Store package (Windows 10) is at this version, however the installer package from the Spotify download page is still on the previous version.
Hey @Xpndable.
Just to reiterate what you said: this issue has indeed been fixed.
Check out this thread for confirmation of this.
Cheers!
