My Question or Issue

For the past week or two, I’ve been having an issue with the Spotify app on my PC and my headset.

I have a HyperX Cloud Flight S that I use for audio, but for some unknown reason, and quite suddenly, Spotify has started refusing to play music through it. It displays the message 'Spotify can't play this right now.' I've done a clean uninstallation, reinstalled the app, updated the software, updated my drivers, and looked for solutions on Reddit (including changing certain settings, etc.), but to no avail.

Before this, I had no issues at all.

However, I’ve noticed that when I change the sample rate and bit depth to 16kHz (Tape recording) in the Sound settings in Windows, the app works properly again, but the quality is... not great.

I checked with my partner, who has the exact same headset, and Spotify works perfectly fine for him.

I’m honestly not sure what else to do, so I’ve resorted to listening to Spotify in its browser version, where it works without any problems, but it’s not very convenient for me. 😞

Hey there @Alex_Grif

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community!

Great troubleshooting so far!

You mentioned that this only happens in the desktop app, but would you mind checking if the same happens while using your headset with the mobile app? Also, could you ask your partner to check if the same happens if he tries his headset with your desktop app?

On another note, could you let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update either of Spotify or the OS of your PC?

We'll be on the lookout.

Same here.

You mentioned that this only happens on the desktop app, but would you mind checking if the same thing happens when using the headset with the mobile app? Also, could you ask your colleague to check if the same thing happens to him when testing his headset with the desktop app?

Answer: Only in the desktop application

On the other hand, could you tell us if this started happening after a specific event, such as an update of Spotify or your PC's operating system?

It started after switching from free to premium
