My Question or Issue

When Spotify has not been used for about a day, and the player is started in offline mode, the window is black and will not show any information.

It is possible to start the last playlist by pressing play through the windows taskbar by hovering over the spotify icon.

The menu under the three points can be used for skipping.

Workaround:

Remove the offline option and restart the player.

Hi there @avanhel,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We're happy to help.

Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Let us know how it works after you've followed the steps above 🙂

Take care!

I tried a reinstall. The issue is resolved.
I mainly need more patience. The app starts with the black screen but the start screen loads now after about 2 minutes.

Hey @avanhel,

Thanks for keeping us posted.

The fact that a clean reinstall improved the situation indicates that something is interfering with the app's cache. Could you please make sure that it has all permissions enabled and is is added as an exception to your firewall?

Also, just to make sure that we're on the same page - if you turn off offline mode before exiting the app, on the next startup the black screen doesn't come up, correct?

Keep us posted. We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Are you new to the Community? Take a moment to introduce yourself!

This is the same issue that everyone is having for the past two years, the cache just gets too big, nothing is interfering with it, just the 'engineers' at spotify think that everyone has a super fast nvme storage or something and don't bother with . You just need clean the cache from time to time or set a limit. Made a small guide about it:
