My Question or Issue

Spotify won't install. It spits out error code 18 and straight after that error code 3. So I googled what that is and apparently 18 occurs when spotify is still opened, so I checked my task manager if its running and its not.

Then I tried uninstalling it: Windows won't let me, because it is still running.

Error code 3 is a broken installer, however that can't be (unless the latest download is broken)

I'd like spotify to start normal again

kind regards

Hey @raphael01

If a program claims to be running and it's not, you can try restarting the PC and then uninstalling Spotify.

Unticking Spotify in Startup (Task Manager) before rebooting will ensure Spotify won't try to autostart, in case it is set to autostart.

Follow this Answer article on how to do a clean reinstall. 🙂

You can also try this offline installer when reinstalling Spotify.

Let me know how it goes!
