Cannot "like" local files

Maybe I'm missing something the other posts tried to say doing. From what I gathered the "workaround" was to have the local files on your computer, add them to a playlist, and then "like" each song from that playlist on a mobile device.

This does not work.

I can "like" them, but they do not get added into my liked songs, and it's annoying having nearly 400 songs that I have to chose either that, or my main library.

WAS this possible and it's no longer possible?

Currently there is no option to directly like local files in order for them to appear in the Liked songs playlists.
