If I click any song from the results list, it will take me directly to the album in question. I cannot select multiple songs from the search results any longer.
However, I don't want to do that. Instead, I want to copy all the results to a playlist. (If you wonder why, I want to compare different presentations of the same song.)
This was not the case before, so I am pretty sure this must have occured after some recent update. Selecting multiple songs within playlists works fine, though. Please find two screenshots of the issue attached.
Hope you can help me out with this. It's kind of biggie for me... :'-(
A thousand thanks in advance to all the good people here...!

Hi @Panteroide,
Thanks for the reply. We've investigated further and this seems to be related to a recent update to the search UI. It seems in the new version, selecting multiple elements is no longer possible. This new version has not yet been cascaded to all users, hense why it still works on our ends. We apologize for any confusion and appreciate your feedback on the matter.
Hope this clears things up.
Hey @Panteroide,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
This feature is currently available on the desktop app. When you search for a song, you can highlight the Songs tab at the top of the search results to filter the tracks and multi-select the ones you want (it could be holding the CTRL/Shift key while clicking the songs, or using the CTRL+A command). Then, you can right-click over the selection to add them to the queue, liked songs or a playlist.
If it's not working for you, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.
Keep in mind that this option is not available for the mobile app. If you want to show your support for this feature on mobile, a similar idea has already been suggested here and it's currently set as "Good Idea, Vote For It" - feel free to add your vote by hitting the "Thumbs up" button and subscribe to it! Any changes or updates will be posted in that thread.
Hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.
@OscarDC thanks for your reply. I've tried on two different laptops for now, and what you suggested isn't working.
Please see the image at the right. Are you completely sure you don't have the same view as I do, if you search for songs? As you can see, no song can be selected anymore from the results view.
Hey there @Penteroide,
Thanks for the reply.
I tried this on two different computers, with two different accounts, but selecting songs works on my end. I'm currently running Spotify version 1.2.0.1165.gabf054ab. From your initial post I see you're running version 1.1.99.
You can try doing a clean reinstall of the app following this guide. After that check if the app has updated to version 1.2.0 and if the selection works again.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
@Alex @OscarDC I followed the instructions you gave, and I've got a clean install of Spotify 1.2.0.1165.gabf054ab at the moment. Moreover, I've ran registry clean up, updated my Windows, rebooted the system ... but nothing seems to work.
I hope it's not too much to ask if you could attach a screenshot of your Spotify showing that you can select multiple songs simultaneosly from the Search view...? 😊 I just want to make sure were are talking about the same thing. As you can see in the second screenshot located at the right side in my initial post ("Example playlist"), selecting multiple songs does work in any PLAYLIST. However, this is not the case w.r.t. the search results of some song (the screenshot at the left).
Let's say you want to explore different presentations of the Christmas song "White Christmas" by renoved artists, and you want to copy all of them to a separate playlist for closer examination. Can you really click and select multiple songs from the search results and click-and-drag them to a playlist? I could do that before, but I lost that capacity in one of the recent updates.
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know, "...blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed", but could you please enclose a screenshot of your Spotify view...? 🙂 That would be highly appreciated...!
Thanks for your kind replies, and happy Christmas time!
Ps. I've got the same problem with two different laptops now after the most recent updates. It's the same account, though...

Hi Joan, These changes seem to be wildly unpopular for those of us unlucky enough to have been cascaded. Please give us a way back! Thank you.
@Joan thanks! So I thought, I just kept wondering how come I am the only one seeing things differently 🙂
Well, at least I got a registry clean up and driver / OS update in the same go...
I agree with @Pokaho though, it'd be nice to have a way to opt-out from this feature. This limits quite a bit my playlist building (not sure if I've managed to cristallize that well enough)...
Happy Christmas time still!
