Client connects to other clients from different accounts in the same network

my firewall said that my spotify client exchanges data with the spotify client and iPhone app of a flatmate. Why does it do that?

Spotify has a feature called Spotify Connect. You can use your Spotify app as a remote, so you can control your phone (which is on the same WiFi) using your Desktop.

Actually, Spotify is able to share music collection with devices inside the same network.
