DRM Enabling

DRM Enabling

Trying to use Spotify. Following the instructions:

If you do not see the yellow bar, you may enable the DRM with these steps:

  1. Enter the following into your browser address bar: about:preferences#content.
  2. Under DRM content, make sure Play DRM content is enabled.

I can find nothing about DRM content when following the above instructions.

Is this due to me running XP? Version 52.4.0 of FF

Thanks

Hey @Username71

Firefox needs a plugin called Widewine content decryption module for DRM-protected content. It may be that you don't have it or it's disabled.

To determine what's up, do that:

1. go to about:addons

2. there should be a Plugins section, that's where it should be

3. If you can find it, make sure it's set to be enabled.

Widewine doesn't seem to support XP, apparently. Support for Windows begins from Vista.
I did find a little article on how to re-enable Adobe Primetime (similar to Widewine in terms of use) for Firefox. Link to the article. Sadly I'm not 100% sure if the web player agrees with Adobe, but it's worth trying. 🙂
