Desktop app can't connect to phone

Hello,

i'm running Spotify desktop 1.0.68.407.g6864aaaf, I used to listen through my Samsung J5 (phone is hooked to stereo via Bluetooth), but now my desktop app can't connect to the phone anymore. The phone is there under Devices menu, but greyed out and it says 'phone locked or app not in foreground' when moused over - not true. It works the other way around no problem. I tried reinstalling both apps, but it didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks

Hey @MichRzesz666

There are ways to do clean reinstall of the apps too. You could try them out, to make sure that no old cache or anything will affect the newly installed program.

For Android it should go like this:

1. From the home screen, tap Settings > Apps.

2. Find Spotify in your list of apps.

3. If you're able to, tap Clear Data and Clear Cache.

4. Tap Uninstall to remove the app.

5. Turn your device off and then back on.

6. Open Google Play then search for and install the Spotify Music app.

For Windows:

1. Uninstall Spotify.
2. Go to %Appdata% in file browser to make sure there are no Spotify folders anywhere in Roaming and Local. If there is, delete them.

3. Restart your machine.

4. Reinstall Spotify.

Let me know how it goes!

Sidenote: Windows needs the network profile to be private, not public.

Hey @Sebasty,

the clean reinstalls appear to have worked, it now operates as before. Thanks! I'll let you know if the problem reoccurs, I hope I won't have to reinstall everything every time I want to listen via the phone!
