My Question or Issue

Desktop app is constantly crashing after playing something for 5 minutes or so. Tried playing a music on both background window or in the active Spotify Window and it still crashes. I already followed all troubleshooting tips found on the web but nothing resolved my issue. Here's what I did:

• Uninstall and clean install.
• Set the power plan to maximum performance
• Disabled Hardware Acceleration
• Close other apps (even if my hardware is good enough to run multiple app at once. And it just doesn't make any sense to run Spotify alone on my PC because I can't just stare at my Spotify when I need to work right?)

Btw, the issue was not present on the same system last month or so. So this was recent.

Hi there @kwerwurgor,

Thank you for your post here in the Community and for letting us know what troubleshooting steps you've taken so far. Good start!

Can you try with another internet connection to see if the issue persist?

Also ,would you mind seeing if this is an account issue by logging into another account on your device - such as a friend's or a family member's?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

I am definitely having the same problem - the Desktop app is constantly crashing (meaning it closes suddenly with no warning or error message).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times. This does not solve the problem.

I have performed a "clean uninstall" multiple times, including manually deleting the Spotify folder from %AppData% and deleting all registry entries that mention Spotify. This makes no difference.

Running the app as administrator makes no difference.
Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. The x86 version and UWP version both behave the same way. Uninstalled, reinstalled several times. It still crashes after half and hour.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and trying our suggestions.

Next thing you can try is going to the app Settings menu > toggle the option Show Local Files on > toggle off all the sources that appear there > toggle Show Local Files back off > restart the app.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes.
