My Question or Issue

My account was working fine until my girlfriend logged out on my PC to use her account.

She wasn't able to log in and now I'm not either. Its advising;

"A firewall may be blocking Spotify. Please allow your firewall to to allow Spotify. Additionally you could try changing the currently used proxy settings (Error code: auth:16)"

Can anyone help please?

I have the same issue with macOS app.

Hey there @fredparrish and @NSBonjo,

Thanks for reaching out with this one. We'll be happy to help.

Let's start with performing a clean reinstall on the affected device. It's also a good idea to check the hosts file of your Windows OS.

If you still can't log in due to the same error message after clean reinstalling, we suggest you head to this Spotify Answer. Make sure you follow all the steps in order to cover all possible scenarios.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Have a great day!

Reinstalling didn't work for me.

I resolved this issue with VPN. I don't know why, because I'm living in Russia and I have Russian Premium. When I connect to "another country" I don't have this error. Now app works without VPN.

@fredparrish Let's try use VPN to login.

Me too.

Though I am in California.

😃

Sadly im having the same issue here luckily im using the Spotify webplayer instead!

Hey @Snowhouse,

Thanks for joining the thread!
Have you tried running a complete clean reinstall to see if that makes any difference?

If the same error appears afterwards, let us know what anti-virus software you're currently using 🙂

We'll be on the lookout for your response.
Cheers!

The only thing that worked for me, was to uninstall spotify and download it not from the Spotify website, but from the Microsoft store.

Esto fue lo único que me funcionó a mi 👍
