My Question or Issue

As stated in the title, as of this morning, any time I play music, Spotify automatically skips the first 30 seconds of the next track and appears to try and crossfade both tracks (despite the fact that crossfade is disabled in my settings).

This only happens in the desktop app; playing through a browser avoids this issue. I've tried rebooting the machine and doing a clean install of Spotify. Neither has fixed it. I would also like to add that searching for this issue reveals that it's been a known issue since at least 2018...

If you've noticed the playback skips through each song on the desktop app and a clean reinstall didn't help it's possible that you're experiencing an issue that we're currently investigating. You can check out this Ongoing Issue and add your vote to it by clicking on the +VOTE button. Make sure you follow the steps provided under Status Update as well. 

 

It'll also be useful to subscribe via the three-dots menu in the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up to date with any relevant updates about this.
