I only have on thing to say about this subject, I don't use a player that can't handle my FLAC collection, my house is wired and I ofcourse want high quilty on my stereo. I went in here to see if your player could handle it, cause then I might try and see if it was better than what I have, but the quality of your argues is as it is with MOST of PROCLAIMED LOSSLESS audio codecs, just crap.. so gl with the player guys, I have others I will use instead ..

I am another recent premium subscriber.

I was very disappointed by the lack of support for FLAC, without this & proper integration with my Sonos + Vortexbox NAS Spotify is of little use to me.

I would be delighted to hear that these issues are to be addressed within the next few months.  If not I won't renew.

NJSS

I see this:

FLAC support to client PC and web browser

Mp3 320kbps - android (smartfon , tablet)

or can choise what want hear..

PS. WE NEED FLAC SUPPORT !!!!!!!!

WE NEED FLAC SUPPORT !!!!!!!!

I take it Spotify has seen the WIMP, have a new service... WIMP HIFI...in other words FLAC....yes its double the price..but its FLAC

Maybe devs you dont understand. So i repeat:

WE NEED FLAC SUPPORT !!!!!!!!

"Need" is a strong word.  And vastly over used.  Sorry, one of my pet peaves.

If one day it can change something, I also support FLAC format. 😃

Please Spotify !! Or at least, give us an official good reason why you could never add FLAC support...

I have cancelled my subscription. I do not feel tSpotify  has any plans of adding Flac. Most subriber/users have no clue what they are missing. They are satisfied with infeior listening situations. Thank you Apple. In fact they do not read the concerns. Poor, very poor.

Just have taken a subscription on Qobuz.... This service for 20 euro per month does support flac and it works on Sonos.... Almost goodby Spotify....or will you finally start streaming on Flac format?

Please Spotiy. FLAC is a famous format. We need it.

I currently don't think streaming flac is a good idea, but Spotify should definetly support playback of local flac files. My car stereo can play flac, why can't Spotify? This is one of the reasons many of us still have to use additional media players.

MY PLAYLISTS
Transcend - The biggest, most uplifting and euphoric trance tunes. Updated regularly.
Progressive trance | big room, edm | dubstep, elecro, dnb | soundtrack, orchestrated | new age | pop | and more...

Yeah this is ridiculous. Please please please enable local playback of FLAC, at least for us premium members. This is the only feature I miss in Spotify.

Just trialed Qobus.. fantastic...also there is a lossless Scandivian service  starting to roll out...Spotify you are getting left behind..i'm sure behind the scenes you must be getting youre act together soundwise..please make it soon..those guys that think lossless is not worthwhile...

check the Qobus free trial ..even on small computer speakers.. damm, even on the iphone the diference is tangible!

awesome. i am going to try this wheni get home. i have a lot of playlists on Spotify waiting for my purchase. seems they sell FLAC studio masters as well.

I have ripped over a  thousand of CD's to .flac format - I don't need Spotify to play these for me, I use a dedicated streamer from a NAS or desk PC via ethernet - I pay a premium for unlimited fast fibre internet & would really appreciate the ability to stream (not locally save) lossles music from Spotify, music played on any half decent gear will show to anyone the difference between compressed & lossless music.

I'm actually looking at alternatives to Spotify who now do stream lossles music though at a higher cost than Spotify although I do feel £10.00 a month is enough for Spotify to stream higher quality to those who will use it, but no doubt if or when they get around to high quality streaming they will double the cost - What Spotify need is more competition.

We need flac now !!!!!!

It would be nice if someone could port Spotify to a UPnP service such as XBMC or TVersity, etc.  Since they have both FLAC and MP3 support, adding ones Spotify library would complete the equation.

Put it this way......

studios spend over £250,000 to £500,000 on gear not to mention the acoustics of the space.

then the artists and lables spend £10,000s recording at said place.

then it gets digitized and mixed in a daw that has to compress all that lucious quality down to most of the time from 32 bit sound to a 16 bit mp3. making everything really crap.

if you want to hear what its like straight from the studio without the massive file size of .wav or .aiff. then flac is the way forward.

Muh Flacs!!

The lack of support for Flacs is what keeps me away from buying spotify premium. Devs, please do it and you'll buy the hearts of many audiophiles.
