My Question or Issue
My Spotify desktop player routinely pauses for seemingly no reason. It may run for minutes up to hours, but always seems to begin to pause and is likely to do it repetitively and sporadically.
I've logged out of all accounts via account profile multiple times, rebooted, reinstalled software, disconnected and removed from Discord, can visibly see Spotify not playing on any other devices. Inevitably the error returns. Can not find a way to reproduce it nor prevent it. I'm going crazy. Please help!
Hey @owlex,
Thanks for reaching out.
Just to confirm, have you tried a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your device? We recommend the steps in that guide, as they’re very thorough and make sure no damaged leftover files remain. These changes tend to solve issues like the one you're experiencing. Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app. Note that we advise installing the Spotify app version from the Microsoft Store as it's the one best optimized for Windows 10.
If that doesn't fix things it's also a good idea to disable Hardware Acceleration from the settings menu. Sometimes this option can cause behavior like the one you're describing.
Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted how you get on.
