Full screen artwork broken at high resolutions with scaling

My Question or Issue

When using a 4k display with scaling enabled on both windows and mac the artwork is not visible in full screen mode until the app is manually scaled up using ctrl/cmd +. At some point the artwork appears but then the app interface is too large to have any practical use. Same applies to the artist photo. There's something wrong with how the GUI is drawn with scaling less than 100% on high resolution displays.

Hey, welcome to the Spotify Community! It's great to have you here.

I suggest you try logging in with a different Wi-Fi network to see if the issue still persists, and also disable any VPN that may be active 🙂

Oh, and one question. When accessing with the Web Player, do you still get the same issue?

Keep me updated, we'll look into it!

Cheers,

Hi,
I'm connected via 2.5G ethernet, theres no proxy / VPN in the way. In the web player the artwork appears normally. On windows I'm running at 3840x2160 with 175% scaling. That's where the problem occurs, on mac updating to 1.2.65.255.g85e641b4 seemed to fix it. On windows it still persists.

Hey again!

You can try enabling or disabling hardware acceleration to see if that solves the issue. To do so, follow the steps below:

Click on the three-dot menu in the top left corner of the app.

Go to Help > Troubleshooting.

Enable or disable the "Use hardware acceleration when available" option.

Restart the app for the change to take effect.

Also, since you mentioned that the issue doesn't occur on one of the machines, it's worth testing the alternative version of the app as well. If you installed the app directly from the official website, try uninstalling it and installing the version available on the Microsoft Store (or vice versa). In some cases, different versions may have different behaviors regarding stability and performance.

Let me know if any of these options solve your issue!
