How to order albums chronologically?

How to order albums chronologically?

If I search for an artist then click it, it shows the artist's albums in Overview in reverse chronological order. If I decide I want to listen to their entire discography in chronological order (you know, the way they produced it), how do I order that list so it's oldest album first? If I play the oldest one, it stops. If I start on album 2, it starts with 1 after its done, etc.

The only way is to highlight all of the tracks, drag them into a playlist and then sort the playlist to be in reverse.

Are you playing from a playlist?

I order artist's playlists sequencially, oldest to newest.  Often the release dates, particularly for older material, is not accurate and based on re-release date.  I find the easiest way to achieve this is to use allmusic.com's discography views.  Click on the first album, there is [usuallty] a Spotify icon displayed under the artwork.  Drag the icon onto the 'new playlist' button or existing playlist.

Often albums ARE available, but no icon is shown in allmusic.  In these instances, I use the Spotify context search extension for Firefox.

in short: me too 🙂

longer version: it is not really practical to point to playlists. Try to listen to some of the goodies from elvis or the rolling stones. The Goodies, not the soulless remastered stuff. Before you can put them in a playlist, boy, you'll got minutes of pure scrolling ahead. Please add the functionality to sort the artists repertoire by some sane criterias, or at least not use newest first (like, the worst imaginable criteria, at least to me).

I am hoping that there is an answer to this some day.  Listening to older music means i have to scroll down through all of the greatest hits and box sets and remasters and bbc releases, live albums etc to get to the original releases.  I'd rather just hit play on the first song and listen until the 80s synth-laden stuff starts and move on to something else...:)
