Is spotify acting heavier than usual for anyone else?

My Question or Issue

I often work or game with spotify in the background, I have it to open at startup so I can press play whenever I feel like. This has never been an issue, until recently where it seems the app is running heavier than normal, when I have spotify open, even without playing it, it'll often clash with other apps and make the sound all slow and distorted. I thought this could be because my laptop is 5 years old and it has run a lot of heavy software, but when I close the app, everything else seems to run normal again. I've tried repairing the app on Windows and then I tried reinstalling, but the problem persists, is it just a problem I'm heaving? Is there a solution?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

We understand you already reinstalled the app, but we'd recommend going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one. Additionally, try installing the app from our website instead of the one from the Microsoft Store, or vice versa.

If that doesn't help, you can try disabling your Local Files (if you have them) from the app's settings > Local Files. Then restart the app and check if that makes a difference.

Lastly, try disabling hardware acceleration. To do so, open the app, go to Settings, and scroll down to the last option.
