Latest version has broken crossfade function

Latest version has broken crossfade function

Oh dear Spotify what have you done now? The latest version (1.0.69.336.g7edcc575) has just installed itself on my Windows PC and I have immediately noticed an issue with the crossfade setting. If I go into the settings the crossfade shows Off but all my playlists are still crossfading. If I turn crossfade On and then Off again the crossfade stops for that session but when I restart Spotify the process starts again. Crossfade shows Off in settings but is On when I am playing music.

Additionally if I turn crossafade On in preferences and leave it on, it shows as Off when I restart Spotify but as I have detailed above it is actually on when I play music. Confused? So am I. This needs fixing Spotify and quickly.

I have investigated this further and I think I now know what is happening. When the latest version of Spotify launches, the Crossfade setting button shows Off irrespective of whether crossfade is actually off or on. So if it was on during your last session it will be on even though the button shows Off. To turn it off you have to flick the toggle switch on and then off again. Crossfade will then be off and will stay off in subsequent sessions until you turn it on again. After turning it on it will stay on for future sessions but the toggle switch will still show Off. That is basically what needs fixing please Spotify.

I have also just realised that the same behaviour is true of the other button in the Advanced Playback section, the one that let's you set the same volume level for all songs. Try turning it on and then restarting Spotify. You will see that it is in the Off position again although the function will still be on.

I am having the same exact problem. I have to update the advanced settings every time I open Spotify, including the crossfade options and the ability to prevent Spotify from opening once my computer turns on

Also experiencing the same issue.

It is starting to get very annoying. A clean re-install of Spotify doesn't help either. Each time I open the app I have to set the volume level to be the same across all songs and put the crossfade to my preferred setting (6-7 seconds). There is no way to save the advanced settings under Preferences. This really needs to be fixed soon

Not sure about the same volume level for all songs setting but the crossfade setting does actually stay on at your current setting even though it appears to be off when you restart Spotify. This is the odd thing. The toggle switches in the Advanced playback section are always showing as off when you start Spotify but whatever you set them to in the previous session will stay the same and those functions will be on even though the switch is in the off position. If you could possibly check this for the Volume level setting as well jblattnerNYC I would imagine that behaviour is the same. The only way to actually turn them off is to toggle the switch on and then off again. It is true that when you toggle either function on it turns on at the fullest level and has to be adjusted..

New version installed today. Looks like Spotify have not fixed the problem! How long is this going to take?

Looks like the latest version 1.0.72.117.g6bd7cc73 has fixed this particular problem. The toggle switches appear to be correctly reflecting the settings. It makes you wonder how this could have become broken in the first place? A bit more input from the techs at Spotify would have been nice along the way though. Why is it that IT guys generally seem very uncommunicative? I wonder how long this would have taken to put right without our input? I sometimes think that there should be a reward system (maybe a free month's subscription or two) for those who point out valid flaws in the product. Anyway thanks Spotify!
