Local files are not scrobbling to last.fm

Local files are not scrobbling to last.fm

Scrobbling to last.fm for songs on Spotify works perfectly. My account is connected.

last.fm displays the "Scrobbling now" on my profile while I play a local file, but the file isn't saved to my scrobble history. Please help.

Hey @ACAx1985

If you're using the last.fm app (connected to Spotify in last.fm settings), then that doesn't support local files yet. Read this last.fm support thread for more information. 🙂

There is actually a scrobbler that is capable of fetching local files from Spotify.
Outtake from @hans-jürgen's post:

If you feel "nerdy", you might try the prerelease version 1.17 of the Last.fm Scrubbler desktop app for Windows which has a new Spotify scrobbling option. You have to run it parallel to the Spotify desktop app and connect to your Last.fm and Spotify accounts via the app. Local files do scrobble, but do not recognise the album info, just artist and track. And it stops after a Spotify ad, but if you are a Premium user, you don't get any ads anyhow.

The Scrubbler beta thread is here.

Let me know how you get on 🙂

The current thread with the developer of Last.fm Scrubbler about his new Spotify scrobbling feature is actually located in the Issues section of his GitHub page:

https://github.com/coczero/Last.fm-Scrubbler-WPF/issues

One issue with scrobbling local files with it is that it does not recognise album info due to the Spotify API, so the submitted scrobbles do not have it either in your library which might be a problem for some users.
