My Question or Issue

Hello,

On Spotify 1.1.48.625.g1c87c7f7-a, I have a problem with local files, now when ordering local files by album, the track order is not respected, so local files are a mess and are completely unusable because albums are displayed in random order šŸ˜•

Please just stop touching at anything related to local files while it works, the Spotify team has been breaking the local files for a month now and when something is fixed, another thing is broken again. Just let this feature alone when it works please... A few weeks ago it was the file detection, then the crackling sounds, now that... Please don't try anything with this feature while it works šŸ˜•

Hey there @caquisse

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community. We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Local Files, but we'll do our best to help you sort this out.

Would you mind sending a screenshot where we can see what's happening so we can dig a little deeper on this?

We'd also recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app to see if it helps. This will ensure you're running the latest app version and that there are no damaged files that could be causing issues.

Let us know how it goes. We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hello, as requested here are some screenshots with before/after tests:

On version 1.1.34.694.gac68a2b3, everything is fine in my local files regarding the track order. Same on version 1.1.48.625.g1c87c7f7 which is the latest one but with the old UI which works.

However on version 1.1.48.625.g1c87c7f7-a (the latest one with the new UI), everything is messed up as you can see on the screenshots, my albums are not properly sorted. You can compare with the official tracklist of the album from the screenshots here: https://kingdomhearts.fandom.com/wiki/Kingdom_Hearts_HD_1.5_ReMIX_Original_Soundtrack

As you can see everything is out of order on the new UI. Everything regarding local files feels so broken on the new UI, if this is really where the app is going I'll have to switch for another streaming service because right now that makes my main playlists unusable...

Well, it's not asking for an improvement or a feature, this right here is clearly a bug with the new UI, displaying tracks in order is not a feature, it's "music player 101". I really hope this bug is acknowledged and will get fixed or I'll have to switch to another streaming service.

And in any case, forcing automatic opt in on (paid) users without any ability to opt out on a feature which is clearly unfinished, unpolished and not working properly is clearly a very very bad idea.

Spotify has been messing up with local files for over a month and when a bug is fixed they find a way to break something else and I'm completely tired to write up complaints and reports here. I'll just rollback to an old version with the old UI which works until I find a streaming service alternative to replace Spotify šŸ˜•
