Local files won't get updated

Solved!

Local files won't get updated

Hello, my problem with Spotify is that I add songs to a folder very often, and I want those songs to appear on Spotify's Local Files, but they simply won't update. Neither when I add music or when I delete it. Is there any way to force the application to update the lists? And yes, my folder is selected on the preferences tab.

Hey @joseantoniogzz!

Removing and re-adding the source from the preferences menu should trigger it!

Let me know how it goes!

Well if I remember properly... There is this file called "local-files.bnk", it's located at "C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Users\{Spotify username}-user".

Deleting it or renaming it to "local-files.bnk.backup" and restarting Spotify might do the trick.

Bummer... I could swear it wouldn't work before. Thank you.

Anyways, another problem I have is the fact that deleted music will stay in the local files list. Is there any way to get rid of it?

Wow, it worked. Thank you again 😄

Thanks for the helpful suggestion to this annoying bug in Spotify. Eventhough this works and is quicker to do than renaming and reloading your musicfolder, it's still a workaround, not a real solution. So it's up to the engineers to do something about this. The easiest way would be of course the program keeping track of the active local files folder(s). But I would already be happy if we could just turn this folder off and on again for it to be re-scanned.

On Mac [10.11.6] I fixed this by deleting the same file, found at Library > Application Support > Spotify > Users > [User name] > Local Files.bnk. Quit Spotify, delete the file, then restart and your local file listings should be fixed. Definitely needs improvement though!

Hey fellas of course it's not a real solution! I've already passed the feedback up to Spotify but it will take time for them to work on the issue, please have in mind that they get issue/problem reports 24/7!

Let's give it some time and hopefully we'll see soon the possibility of not having to do all this process 🙂

(oops, wrong reply by me)

They'll never fix this type of stuff. We just have to put up with it until a better music streaming alternative comes along.Hopefully that happens soon.

Hi, i'm starting to use local files for song that are not in spotify (loving it btw i can have it on my phone and stuff i mean WOW it auto-transfer <3).

I can Update with this "Workaround" but it's so Anoying

Here's how i did it :

1 - Disable the local folder by turning it off from sources
2 - Close spotify
3 - Restart it
4 - Adding the folder (by going through my computer etc...

I would love to see a Refresh button in the Local Files view, is there anyway i can push that idea forward ?

Thanks a lot, loving spotify ❤️
