Lyrics feature unavailable

Hey Community!

Just a heads up that our Lyrics feature on desktop is currently unavailable as we're making some big improvements to the feature. We'll share more updates soon. 

We can also confirm our partnership with Musixmatch is ending. It was a great partnership and there is mutual respect between both companies as our business strategies move us each in different directions.

iOS users can get lyrics and annotations on some tracks via our partnership with Genius. Check out the info here!

I'm just another person asking - actually no, I'm begging - for the return of notifications and lyrics!

Lyrics were my favourite feature of Spotify. I find it difficult to make out the words to songs and find that lyrics help to ensure I enjoy music to the fullest.

To go completely silent on this issue for months is very unprofessional. Disappointing, Spotify!

The thing is, Deezer for instance has the lyrics feature and since there's not much of a difference between the music streaming services people could indeed be willing to turn their back on Spotify.

Off topic, but I'd also like to know who's following my playlists, a feature that has been deactivated, why?

My post on page 59, in September 2016, is just as relevent now as it was then. Nothing has changed, nothing will change, stop giving Spotify your money.

Of course we all know that Spotify's community forums software is almost as buggy as the player clients, but I still thought this was quite funny: in my e-mail notification about the post saying "stop hoping that lyrics will come back, Spotify don't care, cancel your subscription as I did", it said that that reply was written by "Rorey (Community Manager)"

For a moment I thought that's how far it's come, even Spotify employees are publicly abandoning ship =D

Lol they may as well tell us to cancel our subscriptions, they already are by the way they  treat customers, they just haven't directly said it.

Hey Rory!

How about updating the community on the lyrics issue? It has been almost a year now since the feature was removed and no updates...

Also, getting really tired here of the feature disparity between iOS and Android. Especially since Spotify always seems to promise that things are around the corner even when they seem to have no plan to ever bring them (see Touch Preview on Android....)

If I knew a whole year would pass without the lyrics feature, I would've started developing my own... It's not that hard and definitely does not cost a year of work. With a good team, it wouldn't cost even couple of months. I really don’t understand what is stopping you. Users don’t really care if you are fixing bugs, optimizing your engine or other stuff.

Hey fellow lyric lovers!

Thought I'd let you all know, incase you didn't read the previous pages that Musixmatch has now released a beta desktop app that works alongside Spotify.

It's actually fairly decent. I'm using it on a Macbook and there's a few glitches and bugs but hopefully they'll be ironed out soon.

Still doesn't make up for the old lyrics feature which was obviously better as it was integrated inside the Spotify app/program. 

Lift your game Spotify! It shouldn't have come to this. I don't enjoy being forced to use an external program simultaneously with your product that I already pay monthly for.
