It's been three weeks. Can we get an update on the status of lyrics? I thought the music I was listening to just didn't have integrated lyrics and was going to open a ticket requesting that more be added but if this is no longer going to be a feature can you please update the applications (on both mobile and desktop) to have these options fully removed rather than a sugestion to try humming them.
One reason why I subscribed to Spotify was the option for the lyrics on the desktop version. I loved being able to select one thing and instantly get the lyrics, rather than having to do a web search. Honestly the only reason why I stuck with them instead of going to Apple Music. Ive waited a few weeks now for it to come back, but soon I'll just cancel and go to Apple Music.
Update: Cancelled as of today. Going to Apple Music, they have more artist and Love the format all together, honestly did stick with Spotify for the Lyrics button, not anymore!!! Good Luck all! Hope it comes back for you all!
Guys, I'm sorry to say this, but you guys aren't helping by constantly complaining. You guys just need to be patient. Lyrics will be back soon.
If you really believe that, then you also probably agree with Spotify that "Humming is fun" and so are perfectly happy to keep humming without the lyrics, good for you.

@user-removed wrote:Oh Yeah, just like they "improved" the app a few months ago and removed great functions, such as your ability to see your Top 10 music, apps and now notifications and lyrics. I don't know whats wrong with those people.
They aren't removing lyrics. If they were removing it, they would've said that they were removing the feature, not improving it.
That's hilarious. The fact that they said that they're improving the lyrics instead of honestly explaining what really happened is probably more insulting to the customers than the removal without notice itself. But apparently some customers actually believed that bull****

I'm not agreeing with anything. All I'm saying is that IMHO you guys need to be more patient. Things take time to re-implement.

If a company wanted to keep their customers satisfied they should have an idea of what they are going to do once they decide to quit working with an allied bussiness. A vow to resume a cancelled service without a plan to implement it is worthless. It has been three weeks and there has not been a mention from the spotify team of when this feature will be reimplemented. You keep saying "you need to be more patient" but unless you are a part of the spotify development team telling me you have a plan in the works, that really is not a valid suggestion. We have been patiently awaiting for three weeks. How long should we wait before a warning to boycott?
Lyrics aren't going to be re-implemented within 3 weeks. It's just not possible. Spotify is most likely is still making a deal with a lyrics provider, or is working on their own lyrics database. If they are working on their own lyrics database, then I'll expect it to take at least another month or so, because they have 30+ million songs to go through and add lyrics for them.

It actually is possible. There is this wonderful thing called an internet
that already has databases of most of these songs. Its not like the people
at spotify woke up one morning and said "hey, lets quit using music match
today" It has likely been in the works for some time, a company that cares
about maintaining positive customer relations would already have a back up
in place. I'll give you an example. Earlier this year Costco decided they
were no longer going to partner with American Express (which was the ONLY
credit card accepted at Costco) but rather than becoming a cash only store,
they took affirmative action and partnered with Visa before the end of
their contract with American Express. Their customers were notified of the
change before it took place and were able to switch credit card companies
if they were interested. This is how most successful companies do business.
I know that there are multiple lyric databases out there, but maybe Spotify wants to make their own lyrics database in-house so that way they don't have to worry about having to wait for users to add lyrics to new songs on Musixmatch or Genius. Fairly simple really.

This is the exact kind of attitude that allows companies to copout with the "not enough users were affected" excuse.
SPEAK UP NOW!
This is the time we should be campaigning on Facebook, Twitter, and Regedit to get as much support as possible!
"BIG IMPROVEMENTS." I trust you spotify. Don't fail me, I have been waiting, suffering for too long...
argh....It looks like I have not updated version at work and there everything is fine! Fantastic...At home still not working (
Are we gonna have notifications about this topic soon? It has been almost a month and nothing has been said by the desktop team.

maybe you're not familiar on how software developers work: Microsoft or Apple do not suspend a key feature of their online platforms while they are improving it, do they? They keep the old one until the new one is ready, so users are not left with nothing for a month (and counting). If at Spotify they cared about users, they would have at least apologized for this break in the service and explained what's really going on, instead of claiming that they are "improving" lyrics.
Lyrics function has been disabled for weeks already, and I haven't seen any update. Mind updating us?
