@Joan, I'm using Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x64
Spotify version: 1.2.45
Edit: BTW, search bar doesn't work, but I can still search by pressing CTRL+K. That works
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes, i can agree CTRL + K is helpfull but the solution is to download spotify from microsoft store and you can do it without reinstal.
Hello. I have this problem but only when trying to use the search bar... I can use my playlists and liked songs still. is there any fixes?
Having the same issue on windows. Hopefully spotify will fix it soon.
Spotify is looking into the issue in the meantime press CTRL + K to be able to search
Hi @TurningTables76,
Welcome to the Community!
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. This kind of issue could point to corruption in the app install, conflicts with cached data, or local network/permissions issues.
In this case, I guess a fully clean reinstall (not just uninstall) could solve the issue. A normal uninstall often leaves corrupted residual files behind. Please follow these steps:
- Close Spotify completely.
- Press Win + R, type %appdata%, and press Enter.
- Delete the Spotify folder in both:
%AppData%\Spotify
%LocalAppData%\Spotify
- Uninstall Spotify via Control Panel and restart your PC.
- Download the latest version directly from the Spotify website (not the Microsoft Store).
- Install and log back in.
You could also disable Hardware Acceleration by opening Spotify and click on the three dots (menu) > View > Hardware Acceleration — make sure it’s unchecked. Then restart the app.
Let me know how it goes!
I have a Linux desktop app. Today the search function is broken: just one letter in the search field and "Something went wrong". On mobile app the search works.

Windows 11
Search is not working. The Internet is connected, everything works, but the search engine is not working for some reason. Refreshing the page does not help
Also for me that I have Mac Os Catalina!! 😤
I tried a clean install but doesn't work. I hope they fix this problem...
Hey again folks! Could you please make sure you're on the latest app version and let us know what it is?
You can check it here. Many thanks!
Tip: You can download a fresh copy of the app installation file from here in case you wish to do a fresh reinstall.
i did the same thing; same results. it's really ticking me off.
Hello @federicomariani and @moonievhs!
Thanks for reaching out about this. It seems like a few of you are experiencing this. It might be useful to gather some more info so Spotify can look into it.
Can you let me know which device (make and model) and OS you're using? Also, can you let me know which version of Spotify you're using? You can learn how to find it here.
I'd also recommend you try the steps mentioned above such as performing a clean reinstall of the app, and trying using a different account on your device to determine whether this is account-related or not.
Hope this helps and keep me posted!
Hello @bupxjyqn1jmkiq1qnyt2!
Thanks for coming to the Spotify Community. I'll try to help you out.
Can you try performing a clean reinstall of the Spotify app? If the issue persists after this, can you let me know what happens exactly when trying to search, are you getting any error messages?
Also, can you try logging in with a different account on your device to see if it also happens? This can help determine whether this issue is account-related or not.
Keep me posted!
@Vasil, I'm on Spotify v1.2.45.454.gc16ec9f6 - Windows (64 bits)
Do I really need to get the latest version of the app? I honestly prefer an older version of the app, I like it better
I'm experiencing the same issue—search doesn’t work and I get the “Try reloading the page” message. I already tried a clean install, disabling hardware acceleration, logging out and back in (twice), but nothing helped. Turns out the issue was that my Spotify app wasn't up to date. The version I had installed was 1.2.53, but the latest version as of now is 1.2.63. I had assumed my old setup file would fetch the newest version, but it didn’t.
Solution: Open the Spotify app and go to: Menu (•••) > Help > About Spotify
There, you should see an option to download the latest version. Once I updated, the issue was resolved.
Please check my solution and try if it works
Press CTRL + K in the meantime. Spotify problem. I also using linux client and that works for the moment.
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.33.1042.g26c92729
Update the spotify worked for me.
The problem is, spotify app in MS Store doesn't show the update button. So I update manually.
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.45.454.gc16ec9f6
I'm facing the same issue on two different Win10 computers in two different networks. Spotify for Windows (64 Bit) 1.2.56.502.ga68d2d4f keeps telling me "Something went wrong, Try to reload the page". Since it started on both computers approximately at the same time I think the issue is with the app itself. It does work on my Android phone though.
