Media keys in client open web player when active

Hello fellow music listeners,

Whenever I am listening using the desktop client, and google chrome is the active window and I press one of my media keys (play, stop, next, previous song) on my keyboard, it opens the web version of spotify. Is there any way to disable or counteract this? It starts to get rather annoying since I don't want it opening up on the web, I just want the desktop client to listen to my music.
