My Question or Issue
Every now and then, the minimize, restore/maximize, and close buttons become unresponsive. I move my mouse over them and they don't light up, and clicking on them does nothing. I have to double click the top of the window to resize it, then they work again. I have a screencap of this issue and can upload it if necessary.
Hey @kelsyhb,
Sorry to hear that you're having such an experience with the app.
We'd recommend running a clean reinstall of the app. Please follow the steps from this Spotify Guide exactly, as this will assure that all app data is cleared completely, before reinstalling.
If the issue persists, it would be helpful to upload that screenshot and let us know if you're using the version from the Spotify website or the one from MS store.
Keep us posted on how you get on with this.
Cheers.
Hey hey @hotify!
Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear you've experienced this for a while.
Can you let us know if you've already tried to log out > restart your device > log back in? It's also a good idea to try a clean reinstall to clear any old files that might be causing issues.
It's also worth trying to disable hardware acceleration in the app:
Click Edit in the menu bar. Select Preferences.
Scroll down and uncheck Hardware acceleration.
Restart Spotify.
If that doesn't do it for you, we'll need to know your Spotify and OS versions to be able to investigate further.
Keep us in the loop here.
Restarting Spotify fixes the issue but it is reoccurring (usually if I let my computer sleep overnight, this problem occurs in the AM when I play music again).
Using Spotify on Win11 - attached is a ss with the malfunctioning buttons
Hi @mraw435,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community!
Could you please run the clean reinstall with the steps shared by @Alex? They will ensure you remove any old cache or leftover data from your computer. Also, the steps posted by @Elena to disable Hardware acceleration.
Lastly, please keep in mind that Windows 11 is still a new OS and Spotify hasn't been yet optimized for it, so we can guarantee full functionality.
Let us know how this goes.
