My Question or Issue
I listen to Spotify on multiple devices and I frequently enable/disable the explicit filter based on the environment I am in. However, I left it switched to filter explicit songs and then went onto desktop, and I am not given an option to toggle the switch. If the switch isn't going to be available cross-platform then it shouldn't apply across platforms.
Hey @alexbracken, welcome to the Community.
Hope you are doing great!
That feature is not available yet on Spotify Dekstop apps yet.
However, if you would like, you can submit it in Idea Submissions board or support it if this idea has been already submitted.
Have a nice day 🙂
Thanks for the reply! I'm aware that the desktop version does not have that feature, however that is not the problem. The problem is that I have disabled explicit songs on my phone, and now I cannot enable it on my computer. I have tried changing it on my phone and then restarting the desktop version but the option will not budge. The problem is that it is a feature that is cross-platform but only supposed to be controlled via a phone, but it cannot even be controlled via phone
Hey @alexbracken,
The feature is not cross platform as I have tried in several devices with several accounts and it doesn't work. It's due to it being ready to be implemented into desktop apps as well then it should become corss platform.
Thanks! 🙂
I'm really very sorry for the confusion. It appears a few songs were deleted from some of my playlists and were grayed out, and I though that was due to the explicit toggle, but it was caused by them being unavailable to play. I really apologize, have a great day.
Hey @alexbracken,
Nothing to worry!
If you do have any other questions just let me know 😉
Hace a nice day 🙂
I'm having a similar experience. I know there is no setting on the desktop app. However, the site says:
- It applies only for the individual account and device. For example, if you apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app.
But that is false. I have changed settings, restarted apps, all kinds of testing. Everytime I set the phone to block explicit, the desktop mimics it. I want the phone filtered for when I listen in the car with the kids, but want the desktop uncensored for when I work. Is there an update coming for this soon?
Thanks, Billy
