No songs play on Win11 Desktop App or Webbrowser. iPhone works perfectly

Solved!

No songs play on Win11 Desktop App or Webbrowser. iPhone works perfectly

I have the Problem that my Spotify Desktop App as well as the Webplayer do only show blackscreens, and sometimes after loading for a few minutes show the start page, but are unable to play any songs. I tried All regular troubleshooting options in the App, did repeated clean reinstalls from the website as well as the Microsoft store, deleted the hosts file in the System32 folder and tried multiple other suggested fixes, but nothing works. On the phone my Account works just fine.

Hey there! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this.

Have you tried using a different WiFi connection or a mobile hotspot to see if the issue persists? It might also be worth checking if you’re using a VPN, as it could be causing problems on your device.

Please let me know how it goes!

I also updated all drivers on my PC. While downloading the Setup files from the Spotify Website, i realised you labeled the Win10 version with (32bit), in case you changed the used hosts file for the current Win11 version away from the System32 folder, maybe you could specify where to, so I could delete all lines with "spotify" or "fastly" in the address.

Thank you very much, that actually helped, while I was in my phones hotspot! Sadly, after switching back to my regular router, the problem persists. It is a regular private network, is there any way to make it work again with my standard network (no school or work network, no VPNs)?

Hey @Thursdayagain! Happy to know that you found what was causing issues!

Regarding your question, from our end, unfortunately, there isn't much we can do. It's worth checking with your internet provider to ensure there aren't any restrictions or settings on your network causing this issue.

You might also want to try restarting your router or resetting it to factory settings as a troubleshooting step.

Hope this helps! We'll be here if you need anything else! Take care! 🌟
