Pictures not showing/loading in Discover or for users

As you can see from the attached files, pictures are not showing/loading in my Spoify for users or on the Discover page. It does show for artists, and the albums covers also.

I've tried logging in and out, disconnecting and reconnecting to Facebook, but it didn't help. It's been like this through several Spotify updates. Any suggestions as to how I can solve this?

Edit: I'm using W7and a proxy.

Having this problem for over a month now. Spotify is no fun without the pictures! When is this going to be addressed?

If previous proxy issues are anything to go by, I can't see it being fixed sadly. (Maybe experience has made me a pessimist though!)

Thanks! This worked for me, now I can even use apps through the proxy!

Worked for me as well!
Had just to tick the box that says "no proxy"!

Thanks a lot!

Blimey, that only goes and works. Excellent. Many thanks.

I'll inform Spotify of how to fix their own app 🙂

Worked perfectly to me and me co-workers. We are under the company proxy.

Thanks

Tried changing the prefs file to http from https, however I'm still getting square boxes in 2/3 the areas unfortunately.

Nice one! This works for me too.

Although now I have a new gripe, looking at that file I noticed this:

network.proxy.pass="MY NETWORK PASSWORD IN PLAINTEXT!!!"

Nice one Spotify. Way to be secure.

Dude! A LOT OF THANKS TO YOU FOR THAT! I've had this problem for long time now and every day I was more and more upset because of that.

And BIG: "shame on you spotify" for (lack of) support to this issue. As we can see it would only small crapy change in their settings menu to fix this problem.

sedatcans: Thanks for the info.

For Mac OSX:

  1. Cose Spotify if it is open.
  2. Open Finder then click Go > Library in the menu bar. (You may need to hold the Option key if Library isn’t visible).
  3. Go to Application Support > Spotify and open the prefs file in TextEditor.app.
  4. change the network.proxy.addr preference to include http instead of https and save.
  5. Restart Spotify

Fantastic!  This worked for me on Ubuntu 14.04 too (and I supsect it's the same for every flavor of Linux).  The file that needs to be changed is at ~/.config/spotify/prefs.  You just need to "nano ~/.config/spotify/prefs" and then edit the line with the proxy server to "http" instead of "https"

Ah! This totally worked. Thank you so very much ^_^

I tried the application prefs file thing and it didnt' work. I'm still seeing boxes everywhere instead of icons/buttons/profile images/album art.

Make sure that the Spotify app isn't running when you edit the file. I noticed the settings didn't take, and had to re-edit the file.

Since this needed a small tweak for me, I thought I should chime in:

1) configure proxy inside the app and exit

2) edit /home/myuser/.config/spotify/prefs and make it an http instead of https proxy (network.proxy.addr="webproxy.atwork.com:3128@https" -> network.proxy.addr="webproxy.atwork.com:3128@http"); if you don't find it there maybe it's not the right config file (strace -e open -ff spotify 2>&1 | grep prefs)

3) open the app adn enjoy

Perfectry works ! Many thanks !!

Hi,

I've just stumbled into your advice after browsing around for quite a while in search of a solution.

I have a similar problem. In my case, the Discover section is completely blank after updating to the latest version today.

I'm running OS X (10.09.04), and in the prefs file there is no "network.proxy.addr."

All I see is autorun and autologin items.

Thoughts?

Thanks to whoever might be able to help

(I already performed the recommended clean reinstall, and it obviously didn't solve the problem)

For Mac just go to Spotify Preferences and in the Proxy Drop Down Box select 'NO PROXY'.

Restart Spotify and hey presto. I wasn't even using a Proxy in the first place lol

perfect thats been annoying me for ages.

Thaks for the post.
