Play icon on currently playing song when you press big green "Play" button in a playlist

Play icon on currently playing song when you press big green "Play" button in a playlist

This might sound a little picky, but it would be really good if the "Play" icon appeared to the left of the song currently playing in your playlist, and it's highlighted. I know it appearsat the bottom in the "Currently playing" section, but it would be nice to be able to glance at your list and see how far through you are and what's playing.

Hey, welcome to the Community @norchester

Can you clarify your question a bit?

From what I red here, all the things are currently available (see the screenshot)

If you want to reach your currently playing song in the playlist, simply click on the album art/photo (in the left) and it will scroll you to the song : )

Hey Martin, thanks a lot for the reply! That's nearly what I meant, sorry I wasn't very clear, but it is more like in the screenshot attached, you can see that Replicate is playing, so it would be nice if in the playlist that song was highlighted as in your screenshot, but you can see in mine it isn't. Does that make sense? Just a tiny thing, but would be nice 🙂

Hmm thats odd, it shouldn`t be that way.

  • You can try to log out and log back in, this should refresh the app and may help the bug to go away.
  • Other thing to try is switch to queue, play next song, then switch back to the playlist, and see if there`s any difference.
  • The last thing, which is not so cool, but helps for many issues like this is clear reinstallation of the app

A simple questions: Is that happened after a specific update, and for how long you`re experiencing this. Whats your operating system and version of the app. These thing would be helpful if nothing of the above suggestions work : )

Thanks again for your help Martin, I think I found the problem after playing around a bit - it looks like it's happening when I'm playing on my Amazon Echo. Is this intentional, or a bug? It would still be great to have that functionality when listening through my Echo 🙂

Usually it works with devices, but I`m not sure about the Echo : )

I'm having the same problem for some time now on macOS desktop. I'm recently with the latest update (1.0.47.13.gd8e05b1f) and I never had luck with showing and playing icon/indicator in the current playlist. The now playing song is also never highlighted in green as in the provided screenshot. I'm playing my music almost always via connect to a Spotify certified AVR, maybe that has to do with the issue and may support your observation with the Echo. As you already pointed out this is a minor issue but still a little bit annoying. Also it seems like this should be an easy thing to fix.
