Playing Spotify on Web Browser when NOT on same network

Hello! I have been listening to spotify at work for the past couple days without an issue, logging in and just letting it do it's thing, but the last couple of days it won't play anything.

I'm logged into both my phone and my web browser, I can add more songs and browse through lists, but it just won't play. I haven't changed anything since the times it did play, I have no idea what happened.

I went into the available devices, but that NEVER shows anything useful on my phone, only the instructions on how to change it. My computer though shows me options (my phone or the browser) even if it's on the work network and my phone is on data.

I've tried logging out of my phone's account and connecting only on my computer to see if it would ''forget'' my phone, but it just gave me error messages and told me to reload the page until i reconnected my phone account. It wouldn't let me do anything. I'm not too sure what to do, I feel like this should not be an issue because it was working fine a couple of days ago...

Anyway, thanks in advance!

Hey @MPisNotaBot

The web player (as well as the iOS app) is currently dysfunctional, but don't worry, Spotify is looking into it. I suggest keeping your eye on SpotifyStatus. 🙂

Had this issue as well, but refreshing the webplayer about a dozen times got it to work.

Hope that helps! 🙂

Are you stuck on 1 song and no matter what song you click on, it still won't change?

I tried various solutions (deleting cookies, etcetera) but managed to get it to work by simply right clicking a song and copying the song link and then pasting it into the address bar. It played the song and then I could listen to my playlists again.

Hi! Thanks for that 🙂 Good to know

Hey, that's pretty interesting but no I wasn't stuck on anything, nothing would work. I somehow got it to work again by creating device specific passwords and usernames? So I log into the computer through that, which is linked to my account but still plays on my computer. I still have trouble clicking on the songs themselves but if I can get it to play in a playlist then I use the arrows on the player to switch songs and whatnot. Not perfect, but it works!
