Re: Search does not work on my desktop app

Re: Search does not work on my desktop app

It is an ongoing issue, not the only one and happens only on windows app (windows 10). After it happened the first time I reinstalled which worked for some time, but problems keep showing up.
Problems:1) Search- sidebars appear and work fine, but where would be results is nothing, sometimes written                  that "no results were found"

2) Friends activity- nothing happens after I press the three headed icon
3) (!!!) After connecting my 2nd device (pc to phone or vice versa) current song plays for a split second before stoping. Need to shut spotify off on one of the devices to keep listening.

Hey there @ztelesnenyvanoce,

Could you try restarting your PC in Safe Mode with Networking to see if the issues persist there? It's also worth checking your hosts file for any entries with Spotify in the address and removing the lines. You'll find a detailed guide on how to do that here.

Something else you can try is installing Spotify from a different source: if you're currently running the version from our website, try the one from the Microsoft Store instead, and vice versa.

Cheers 🙂

Yes of course, after restarting/reinstalling the app/ restarting the pc everythings seems to work fine. Untill some time later (whether it be a few hours or days) the same issues appear again.

Appreciate the cooperation, @ztelesnenyvanoce.

Just to make things more clear, do the same issues persist if you uninstall the app version you're currently using (either from our website or the MS store) and download the other? They can have different behavior so that's why it's worth trying with both.

I'd also like to include the clean reinstall steps here as they're different than a basic reinstallation of the app and it's important to follow them.

On another note, have you even tried with a different Spotify-account on your device?

Keep us in the loop 🙂

Glad to be of help. Just to make things more clear: I wanted to point out there are issues, I am unable and unqualified to help you any more 🙂
I'm not the only one it's happening to so it is unprobable that we all downloaded it "wrong". If we did, maybe the fault isn't on the customers side?
Thank you and best of luck with finding the solution ❤️
