Recently Played not wokring

Recently Played not wokring

I am using the windows desktop app and none of my recently played  are showing up it just continues to say music will appear as you listen.  It works on my android device and thing i listen to on my desktop show up on there but i can't view recently played from my desktop. i have found several old topics about this but none of them describe ways to fix it i was wondering if there is anything you can do. i have reinstalled it i tried installing the version from the windows store but it doesn't change.

Hey @Kenshin220, welcome to the Community!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with this. No worries. We'll definitely be able to help 🙂

Can you make sure you don't have Private Session enabled? You can find the steps on how to check from this article.

Also, when you reinstalled, did you follow these exact steps for a clean reinstall?

Let us know.

yes i did that to reinstall and it changed nothing i am not in a private session on any device and like i said the history is being saved because anything i play on my pc is appropiatley showing up on the recently played of my android devices.

I have the same problem. My mixtapes and radios or also gone. Have this problem since 1-2 months and tried reinstalling, but it didn't work.

Hey @_03040_

Your issues sound a lot like something's not quite right with the network or hosts file.

I suggest trying out the following:

1. open Notepad as an administrator (right-click - Open as Administrator)
2. go to File - Open and navigate to

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

3. Choose "All Files" instead of "Text Documents" next to the File Name box. You'll see a handful of files. Pick hosts and click on Open.
4. The file is opened. You will see a block of text with # in front of each line and might see entries like

0.0.0.0 website.com
127.0.0.1 website2.com

Check for any entries with spotify or fastly in the address. Examples may look like:

0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com
0.0.0.0 prod.b.ssl.us-eu.fastlylb.net

(and any variations inbetween)
5. If you do find any, you can delete the line. You can also add a # in front of the line, that's 'commenting out'.
6. Save your changes. Restart Spotify.

You can also try removing all lines to see what happens.

This might help with the malfunctioning Recently Played as well @Kenshin220

Let me know how it goes 🙂

there aren't any entries for spotify in either my hosts or networks file

 It fixed itself randomly yesterday
