I'm not sure the algorithm that comes up with the recommendations in the "Shows you might like", but I'm getting some podcasts recommendations that are disappointing to see. I liked Spotify because it allows me to get away from deplorable propaganda machine that is Facebook. When I see cult-like disinformation podcasts in this list that stares me in the face when I open Spotify, it makes me want to cancel my membership and no longer send you money.
We need a way to either to user control remove those recommendations or edit them. I'm finding it insulting to see them everyday.
Premium/USA/Desktop player
I don't pay for Spotify for the podcasts. I also don't pay for it to have offensive stuff shoved in my face. If I don't get explicit content out of my face I'm UNsubscribing. You don't get to decide what I want to listen to.
I'm out of this one too. After many years as a customer, I am leaving for good.
Please let me remove this section of podcast too! It's really annoying everytime the app launches
It is not solved! I too want to remove the unwanted **bleep** from my homepage. I am paying for a premium service: please listen to your users and provide a way to remove/edit "Shows you might like".
Seriously Spotify what the **bleep** is this, its like your team dosen't give a damn about thousands of user with the same shared problem. This has been ongoing for three years now and after seeing this vulgar thing on my account (after countless other inappropriate podcasts might i add),considering that i don't even listen to podcasts, its shameful that the IT hasn't AT LEAST introduced a "toggle off" for podcast recommendations or recommendations as a whole. I understand that Spotify shouldn't have to change the app just to suit a fraction of users, but as paying users we should at least be given a choice as to how we's like to use our personalised accounts rather than having our home page bombarded with recommendations that have nothing whatsoever to do with our tastes. Please fix this issue.
They just paid Joe Rogan $100 mil to move his podcast to Spotify. This clearly indicates that podcasts are on users' homepages to stay. They will not risk letting people turn it off. What would happen if unexpectedly big part of users turns them off? Then whoever singed Rogan will look like a foul for spending so much money. 🙂 I actually expect more podcasts, with features like popups, reminding you of that great new show that you must listen now to improve your life!!! :-))
Been searching for this pretty much every weekend. The number one douchecast they advertise to me is Joe Rogan's boat of BS. F****ing atrocious. I'm about done with spotify. Love the music, hate the lack of options. Rather play music off my own directory so I don't have to see the faces and names related to this moronic "podcasts". Podcasts.... sigh

What a great non-answer! Thanks!
I too, never EVER listens to podcasts, and have no intention of ever doing so.
Yet, here we are. Recommending nothing BUT podcasts.
The language-specific ones are all from my home state-run media (NRK), and I have absolutely no interest in any of it.
I listen to music, and if I want recommendations, I prefer them being based on what I like and what I listen to, and not what the mainstream believes defines music.
Had I been paying for Spotify, I'd cancel my sub, 100 %.
I am a paying user to avoid ads. I ABHOR ADS AND "PROGRAMMING". I want control over what I can see on my home page. I DO NOT want you pushing revolting society-destroying podcasts on me. I have never listened to a single podcast on your service. You have no data to say that's what I want to see so your statement that what I see is govered by what I listen to is patently false. You show it to me because you're paid to. I pay for Spotify to AVOID ADS. Since you have no taste or scruples in your choices, let me turn them off and disable the whole section.
I'm cancelling Spotify and trying Amazon Music. This home page issue is too annoying.
I have tried to get off these 'permanent suggestions' on 'shows you might like' section, by listening podcasts that possibly be in my interest, leaving them on for hours so that 'Spotify's secret algorithm' would learn my taste.
Guess what? Those podcasts are still there and the podcasts i listen to, or podcasts of the authors i listen to, haven't even popped up in 'shows you might like'.
At least don't push this advertisement attemp in this way Spotify, don't make your advertisements occupy the entire shows you might like section but allocate a slot along the user's true taste.
It is nothing but annoying, showing an advertisement section right on the second row of the homepage where people wants to access the music quickly just by opening the app.
Day by day i am seeking the alternatives and soon i will migrate from Spotify thanks to your way of handling issues and thinking whatever you do is right by enntirely ignoring user experience.
I'm from Ukraine, live in Germany, and have a subscription to German Spotify.
Can you please explain to me why do I see 100% of russian podcasts there? And the topics are ridiculous: **bleep**, money, politics. Based on what your algorithms did an assumption that I am interested in russian content if I listen to Spotify mostly during my work.
That is the stupidest answer I’ve ever heard. “We know you’re upset, but we don’t care” would have said the exact same thing in fewer words and zero bending of the truth.
We pay for your service - we should be allowed to disable anything not part of the basic user experience. **bleep** off with your “recommendations” everywhere. It’s like when you put Drake all over everyone’s start screen, how amazingly tone deaf.
Before I read your answer here Jeremy, I hadn’t considered cancelling spotify, its been a part of my life since 2008. But you changed that, your nonchalant BS answer showing how being a paying customer means fck-all to your company. And I just realized i already have a Youtube subscription…
I have been using Amazon Music Unlimited for 4 months now, and so far it has been great. It has a slower learning curve than Spotify. However, on Amazon Music, it learns your preferences per device. So on my phone (usually in the car) it plays slightly different music than on the app on the computer at work. You can thumbs up or thumbs down the My Soundtrack songs it selects for you, helping it learn your preferences. You can clear your cache and reset the app on each device and have it learn again from scratch. The one thing I miss from Spotify is the many shared playlists, which are just great.
I've been a premium subscriber since 2012, before they even officially launched in Europe. For most of that time, I've had the Spotify app on my PC set to autostart on my second monitor. Since this bug "feature" exists, I keep getting greeted by garbage podcasts that put me in a bad mood every day. It has become a habit to click on some random playlist after booting up my PC so I don't have to look at this **bleep** anymore. Today, I finally disabled autostart because I just can't stand it anymore. To think that this is a paid so-called "premium" service is laughable. Shame on you, Spotify.
Oh and it is worth mentioning the ability to "report" shows, which seemed to be the only avenue to even gave to say "I don't want to see this" conveniently does not work.
