Remove/Customize "Shows you might like"

Remove/Customize "Shows you might like"

I'm not sure the algorithm that comes up with the recommendations in the "Shows you might like", but I'm getting some podcasts recommendations that are disappointing to see. I liked Spotify because it allows me to get away from deplorable propaganda machine that is Facebook. When I see cult-like disinformation podcasts in this list that stares me in the face when I open Spotify, it makes me want to cancel my membership and no longer send you money.

We need a way to either to user control remove those recommendations or edit them. I'm finding it insulting to see them everyday.

Just so we are on the same page here, you clearly agree there should be a mechanism for removing content deemed offensive, other than "Simply waiting to see if an Algorithm removes it". I will for my part try to be more "respectful" when expressing my feelings about you trying to forcefeed me content from white supremecists.

Hi mmccaughan,
The post Re: Remove/Customize "Shows you might like" was deleted by AndresM.

Reason: Your post has been removed
Explanation: Hello @mmccaughan, I’m representing the Spotify Community Moderator team and am PMing you to explain why we had to remove your last post. The post went against our Spotify Community Guidelines, specifically point [8]: “Always use an appropriate and respectful language when you post information in the Community. Failing to do so can result in the suspension of your Community account. We appreciate your understanding.

Thanks for being a Spotify Community member.

I agree with you. They should be listening to their users. And I’m investigating alternative music sources.

Spotify has removed "Shows you might like" for few days.

Now a smart developer decided to put two sections right before the playlists and artists you are listening to;

"Shows to try" with podcasts with zero relevance to your listening history, purely advertising new podcasts right on main spot, seen when you are launching the app.

"Your episodes" with the podcasts you have ever listened to or a relevance.

Dear developers, UI / UX experts of Spotify, most people uses their phone with a single and we want our music to be reachable before than your advertisements.

But you value advertisements before than your customer and user's experience.

Thanks for finally helping me to decide to move out from your app.

It's obvious they are pushing content they paid to acquire, to try and generate revenue, and it's insulting that they don't just come out and admit that, slap a 'sponsored content' tag on it and stop acting like it's some BS algorithm serving this **bleep** up (Or directing us to all go vote on a topic that's been open 2+ years with no action.. For full transparency why don't you just rename that thread to "/dev/null" because that's where our feedback is clearly going)

For my part I have been trying Amazon Music Unlimited and so far it seems to work fine for me, my biggest concern was reading they could not do playlists, but I am able to do those just fine.. Only thing left really is to test carplay integration then I can dump this garbage app for good.

PLEASE GIVE US AN OPTION TO REMOVE SHOWS YOU MIGHT LIKE FOR GODS SAKE

Can ya'll remove the shirtless guy from my Spotify?  Kinda embarrassing when my boss walks up.  What the heck are you guys thinking?  Mat Tales.  Can you have him put a shirt on or something?

i am getting Kremlin propaganda podcasts on my "you might like" feed XDDDD, Great job Spotify, you gotta love those totalitarian regimes.

this is STILL an issue over a year later from the original post!!! spotify just put a hide option, nobody wants to listen to these weird podcasts!!

Is this ever gonna get fixed ??? Those three question marks show frustration if you haven't noticed. I'm considering changing to another music streaming service cause I keep receiving (sometimes inappropriate) suggestions for podcasts. That trend of suggesting**bleep** to people using AI is just breaking apps these days. AI's cannot read people thoughts based on habits or clicks or searches or whatever. Why ? Simply because we are human and are prone to *change* - trough *trial* and *error*. So trying to predict something absolute is impossible. At the very least, we should be able to pick which topics or music genres or shows we want to display or not on our interface and choose what do or don't want the AI to search for suggestions for us,  or move them lower in the page maybe at the bottom of the interface. Please listen to the community ffs !!

Its crazy because they do have the option to "never get this suggestion again" for artists or songs that you don't like, but we dont get this option for shows or podcasts. They can do it, but they just wont, I suppose because its actually publicity for them that they get paid for. Its completely stupid. I'd rather pay a bit more and not have any type of advertisement honestly.

GIVE USERS THE OPTION TO REMOVE/EDIT THEIR HOME SCREEN. SUGGESTED SHOWS ARE NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THE SHOWS/PODCASTS I LIKE. INSTEAD OF ROBOTS REPLYING WITH "WE ARE CONTINUING TO IMPROVE, CLICK +VOTE" IS NOT THE SOLUTION. FIX THE ISSUE. NOT HARD. USERS PAY PREMIUM FOR A REASON. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

This does NOT help.  I work for a Christian organization, and we are allowed to listen to Spotify with earbuds while working.  Apparently, just because I listen to podcasts re mental health you decided I "might like" a podcast called UNF*CK your brain.  Putting the asterisk in there DOESNT HELP.  I'm embarrassed to think someone might walk by and see that and think I actually listen to it.  I have to minimize my screen which is a pain when I want to switch songs.  Plus, I don't appreciate having to see it MYSELF.  I should be able to delete ANY icons or music I don't want to see.  Same with suggested Daily Playlists, I made the mistake of sharing my account for a short time with one of my kids, whose music choices I also have to hide.  It's ridiculous to imply you CANT change this right now.  You dont want to.  But I enjoy Spotify too much for other reasons to quit.  However, obviously Im not the only dissenter here so a little customer service/putting us first is in order.

The problem has been raised since 2019 with 5,900 votes.

There's still no sign of Spotify team accepting this simple/easy-to-fix idea by the end of 2022.

I want to open this app to listen to music but you always put the podcasts section on top and didn't offer any control over this section to the user.

Some of them are inappropriate or the social influencers on the cover have many controversial while I have no control over "my own Home page" and Spotify keeps shoving these podcasts on me.

I start to think there was some hidden agenda behind the reason Spotify didn't allow users to customize their own feeds while Spotify holds full control to manipulate users' feeds.

The worst way to kill the vibe is when I open Spotify.

Same problem for me "Shows I might like" are totally intolerant. I ve never search for something like that they are always there and not changing. Please put an " I m not interested button".  I don't want the first show on my Spotify when opening it to be "dating secrets" lol

Looks like it got fixed after all this time 🙂

ITS NOW 2023! we need to have the ability to fully customize our home page manually.  This "solution" of "just listen to something else" is nonsense.  Its not difficult to ADD A DELETE BUTTON next to something I am completely not interested in. #ADDTHEDELETEBUTTONSPOTIFY

Still not able to remove. Will stop subscription soon because of this issue. Not that spotify will care right? Bye

just let us hide it. i only want my MUSIC.

It's seriously been three years since the original post and nothing has been done? I get that spotify likes money but holy **bleep**. Literally all you have to do is add one maybe two buttons and the problem will be solved. And at the very least stop just tiptoeing around the issue saying things like "Oh you should like other posts so that we see your opinion." there have been hundreds of posts here talking about how your customers hate the podcast tab and are offended by the content in them yet you can't see it. Also, you took down someone's suggestion because it was "Offending Spotify employees", but when your program specifically shows people things that offend them, you suddenly don't care. seriously pick a lane.
