My Question or Issue

for the last day or so, when I put a song on repeat one, after the song repeats maybe four or five times, the playlist automatically moves on to the next song, even though I didn't want it to or turn off "repeat one". like i said, this didn't happen a couple of days ago. am I missing something or is this an error on Spotify's part?

Hey @No_Name_Legion,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Are you able to consistently reproduce this behavior with multiple accounts and, if possible, on another desktop app installation?

Just to make sure, are you using the web player or the desktop app? If you're using the web player, try clearing your cache and cookies. If you're using the desktop app, try performing a clean reinstall of the app as described here.

Let us know how that went.

Cheers!

When I activate the "Repeat one" setting it goes just as fine, repeating the same song again, and it works for about one to five times, until suddenly it changes to the next song on my playlist.

It's happening with all of my devices, Smart TV, Playstation, Phone, etc...

I already tried unistalling the app from all my devices, clearing data, logging out and logging in from all devices and still no work.

If anyone has a solution I would appreciate.

Hello Dian,

thanks for your reply.

I am using the web player, and have just cleared my cache/cookies, and am testing to see whether the issue happens again.

thanks.

Edit: hasn't worked, issue keeps happening.

i don't have access to another account/device, so i'm not able to see if this issue occurs for other devices/accounts

FURTHER EDIT: the only other device i have access to is my phone, but i can't use repeat one without buying premium

Hey @No_Name_Legion,

Thanks for confirming.

Can you send us a video of the issue or provide steps on how to reproduce it? Where are you starting the track from (search results/playlist/artist page etc.)? Does this happen with all tracks? Are you connected to a smart speaker/Bluetooth device?

In the meantime, you can also create a new account for testing purposes using a different email address and then close it using these steps. Testing with a different account will help us narrow down the possible cause of the issue.

Cheers,

Hi MihailY,

I'm starting the track from the playlist page.

as far as i can tell, the only way i can reproduce this error is simply play a track, put it on repeat one, and let it run for a couple of repeats, and then it will automatically move on to the next track without my input.

this has happened with every track I have played.

I am not connected to a speaker/Bluetooth device.

I'll try making a new account so i can see if the issue continues.

thanks.

Hey @No_Name_Legion,

Thanks for the additional info.

Let us know how it goes with the new account. In the meantime, you can check if starting the track from different places in the app (as mentioned above) makes any difference.

Cheers,

an update:

this issue only seems to happen if the song is in a playlist, i played a song that wasn't in my playlist, from the search results, and it seems to repeat normally, with no issues.

will edit this with further updates as needed.

thanks again.

I am having the same issue as well, it happens across both my xbox and pc, is there a way to fix this permanently?

It seems to happen whenever an advertisement plays

Web player on desktop, Free Account, Windows 10, Canada.

I'm having the exact same issue. Except mine only plays 2-3 times before it skips to a new track and the weird part is that the Repeat 1 button is still On.

Hey folks,

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community!

@No_Name_Legion, @Shelaar, could you let us know if this happens after an ad plays? Also, would you mind checking if the same happens while using an incognito window and a different browser?

@Top10bruhmoment, just to confirm, is this happening on the web player on your PC or on the desktop app as well? Additionally, could you check if the issue persists while using a different internet connection? You can create a hotspot on your phone and using that.

We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

Yes, it happens after an Ad as well as after playing a song 2-3 times.

I'm not very good with computers, I don't know what incognito is.

Hey @Shelaar

Thanks for the info.

No worries, you can open an incognito window easily by clicking on the 3 dots in the upper right corner of your browser > New incognito window.

Additionally, if you use for example Chrome, we suggest that you try with Mozilla, Safari or any other browser to check if the same happens.

@Eni

This happens on the desktop app and on the web player as well. I tried it with a different internet connection on both my laptop and on my xbox but nothing worked.

It happens in Incognito mode as well. I use Chrome normally but I tried it on Firefox and the same thing is happening.

Hi there @Shelaar, @Top10bruhmoment,

Thanks for the replies. Could any of you please send us a screen recording showcasing this issue, as mentioned by @MihailY? That will greatly help us investigate this. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

Thanks in advance

@Joan

I am having difficulties reproducing this on my pc/laptop, it seems that for me it's mainly happening on the spotify app for xbox.

It also usually happens when i am listening on xbox, and when i connect my laptop to the xbox it spreads to there as well. I am not sure why i can't seem to get it to do it on my laptop, as yesterday it was happening all the time on the windows app, but for some reason it's not playing any video ads, just showing the popups from time to time that I can click off of.

The file size was too large so i have uploaded it as a unlisted video on youtube which i will link here: https://youtu.be/t14Sb5aD1TY

I understand if the video i sent above was not satisfactory, what was not shown in the video above was me recording for about an hour trying to get the windows app to play a video ad and skip the currently playing song before i gave up and just connected it to my xbox, and even though i didn't get a recording of the song being skipped after an ad i did capture it going to the next song even though i didn't press the skip song button and had repeat one enabled

Hey @Top10bruhmoment,

Thanks for the video.

For anyone experiencing this, can you please share your OS version and Spotify version so we can report this to the relevant team?

Cheers,
