My Question or Issue
This has been happening for long time, but after being on premium for long time I think I have a right to complain.
Spotify keeps playing songs that are not on my list. I only use custom playlists and don't want anything suggested playing while I'm on it. How **bleep** hard is that to do??
Every time my playlist is on shuffle, other songs from for example the same band will be inserted and played on my playlist - which I don't want.
Previous posts on similar subject are marked as solved because solution was:
a) Turn off Autoplay in settings (which I did)
b) Turn "Repeat All" for only playback from the current list - I also have that on.
problem still persist.
so another solutions by some truly tone def helpers on forum say: to reinstall app/update to latest version - which is also done (so you don't have top paste it in your template reply)
I attached a gif to show you that I can recreate this problem on command. As usual problem that is hear from at least 2016 (just by searching Spotify community).
On gif, I first scroll through my playlist to show all album artworks, then I play my playlist and just skip until a track that I don't want on my playlist shows up.

Hey @sophia56,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
Just to confirm, is your account Premium or is on our free service? Keep in mind our free experience on mobile is different; the app adds suggested tracks within the playlists. This is not the same as Autoplay. Keep in mind, these recommendations are going to appear, even if you disable Autoplay.
On another note, it might be worth checking if you have the Autoplay feature enabled in your account settings. To check this, go to settings> Playback> Autoplay in this device. If it's activated, toggle it off.
It's possible you have some other playlist or songs in the queue ready to start playing. So, if your account is Premium, we'd recommend you check if there's something on the queue to play next. If yes, you can clear the queue, you first have to locate it by following the steps in this article. Then you can hit the Clear queue button to see if you notice any difference.
Lastly, if none of the above does the trick, would you mind letting us know the exact make/model and OS of your affected device along with the Spotify version you have running?

I have had the same problem I’m playing my favorite play list then some random songs I don’t even know get inserted in my playlist
Solution: logout >> uninstall the app
worked for me
only on mobile don’t know about pc
Same when I play something like Melanie And Misky came up next I hate that no fix it fix that place no play it by the same artist not different ones
I found my issue was fixed by clearing my "Queue". On desktop it is the "hamburger menu" (small stacked horizontal rules) in the bottom right.
When I had saved songs to play next, those would always take priority over any album/ playlist I have pressed play all on.
Good luck
I followed these steps only to find out mine was off has been off but it still plays songs not on any of my playlists.
This is it - I figured it out! When you shuffle your playlist its actually a 3-stage toggle. Click it once for "smart shuffle" which its adds recommended songs, click again for "shuffle" which will just shuffle your playlist, Click a third time to turn off shuffle.
The Smart Shuffle was my issue! Thanks for the reply.
Still happening in 2024 - logged a ticket last month complaining about it and I was told by spotify support that someone had hacked my account and were going to change my passwords for me - politely told them where to go with that idea.
Cleared my playlist and things have been good until today, happened again 😞
Unhappy premium member 😞
This is happening to me and I have followed all the steps regarding autoplay etc.
Very annoying!
Hey folks,
Here are some things you can check if you notice this behavior:
If the issue persists, try performing a clean reinstall of the app - this will get rid of any potential corrupted cache and ensure you're running the latest version of Spotify.
Hope this clears things up. Cheers 🤘
I was having the same issue and realised that the 'shuffle' feature was the issue, I wanted the playlist to play in a random order, but only that playlist.
Under the playlist name there is a shuffle icon (2 arrows that cross over each other) just make sure this is off, and music will only be played from this playlist.
I am trying to play a certain playlist, but it is playing songs that are not on it. No. It is not on Smart Shuffle. It does this whether I have regular shuffle on or not.

My Question or Issue
This happens to me 2, 16 March 2025. How the #@%€ is it possible 9 years later this #€^@ still happens!
Additionalky S is interupted frequently by a pauze of about 1-2 seconds. Very irritating, especially when you have a party!
Now I am seriously considering to cancel S if this pertains.
I play bedtime stories from Mommy and Phillip every night for my kids. For at least the last month every night the bedtime story is randomly interrupted with Kendrick Lamar songs. This is very disturbing for them and also explicit and inappropriate. Please help. We can’t seem to get it to stop. I have even unchecked the explicit box in settings.
