Search function doesn't work

I've been having some issues with the Spotify search function recently on my PC. Most of the time it doesn't show anything, only my recent search results. When I restart Spotify, I don't have this problem for like the first 1-2 things I search for, but after that search function is not working anymore.

I've tried re-installing, but without success.

Anyone know what to do? This is very annoying.

Search works fine here. I had issues with it in the web player which resolved by deleting cache. I suppose there might be a similar issue in your desktop client.
You can try out a clean reinstall 🙂

This is how it's done:

1. Close Spotify and uninstall it.

2. Go to %AppData% in Windows Explorer, and delete any Spotify folders you find in Local and Roaming folders.

3. Restart your computer.

4. Install Spotify from here.

In case you're using a Windows Store version, check this HowToGeek article - it shows how to reset an app without having to actually uninstall.

I am also experiencing this problem. A simple search yields countless posts over the years of people having the same issues. I wonder why this continues to occur, especially to paying customers.
