My Question or Issue

Hello, dear community. I have seen the issues regarding the new design, however I couldn't find the thing I'm concerned about. This is the songs of the particular artist. Is there a way to see all the songs of the particular artist as it was before the update?

In the old version, all the songs were 1 click away on the artist page. Right now, you should first go to the particular album to do that. I personally find it extremely inconvenient as I don't remember, what song belongs to which album.

Is there a way achieve the previous behavior in the new update? That is, how to see all the songs of the artist on one page? Thanks 🙂

P.S. I miss "recently played" button very much

In case anyone interested, there is a solution for this in the web player but not in the app, which should mimic the web interface. On artist page go to "albums" section. Click "see discography". There is on option on the right to choose between the grid and list view and between singles and albums. However, there is no such thing in the app!

P.S. I have wasted a half of my day for that. I'm sorry to write this, but the new update was the worst Orthodox Eastern present 😞

UPD: my bad, everything is fine on windows. However, there is no such controls on Ubuntu Linux.

How can I reach to moderators about this issue? Please help me

Hi, welcome to the Spotify Community!

I see you're facing some issues with the new design, don't worry, I'm here to assist you!

First of all, you should give this feedback on the right forum. Go to Menu > Help > Desktop (Windows or Linux), this forum is for the iOS app.

In response to your issue, you can check all the songs of the particular artist by clicking on the SEE DISCOGRAPHY option. Make sure to keep your application up to date to see this new option.

There's no way to achieve the previous behavior with the new update or back to the old one.

Also, I see you want to use the recently played button, you just need to go to the Queue option like below:

There, you will see the history option of the recently played songs.

if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask me here. Hope it helps you.

Jonera.

Dear Jonera, thanks for the assist! I have already discovered the discography option, thank you. However, it seems to me that the controls are missing for linux app. I attach 2 screens: the first one is from web player. The second one is from ubuntu app. Notice the absence of the controls on the right in the second one.

Thanks for indicating about the forum, I had difficulties in submitting new issue here on spotify community. I will try deleting this issue and reopening more specific feature request on the right forum.

Again, thanks for your support and advice 🙂

Yeah, I shouldn't have to click on another tab to see songs from the artist when I'm on the artist page. I'm personally not happy at all with this update, I always despised the mobile layout.

Hey @yuuurchyk

The Linux app is not actively supported on the same schedule as the Windows and Mac desktop apps. So from time to time the Linux app will be updated, but in general it will be slower to get the changes you see in the Windows and Mac desktop apps. The web player has the same infrastructure as the Windows and Mac desktop apps but with less features.

From the Linux download page:

"Spotify for Linux is a labor of love from our engineers that wanted to listen to Spotify on their Linux development machines. They work on it in their spare time and it is currently not a platform that we actively support. The experience may differ from our other Spotify Desktop clients, such as Windows and Mac. You can tell us what you think and ask other users for help at the Desktop (Linux) board in The Spotify Community forum."

Hopefully you'll see this change eventually!

Fine on Windows? I don't seem to have an albums or discography option to select from at the top.  By default it shows album tiles, but it doesn't show the songs or year of each album without clicking into each individual one.

Hey @hschlossberg,

Thanks for the post.

Could you upload a screenshot so we can see how the app looks from your end?

Cheers.

Two screenshots, one showing the top of the screen and the other showing the album tiles.  I'm also just realizing this is an iOS forum, while I am using Spotify on Windows (sorry).

Hey @hschlossberg,

Thanks for your reply and the screenshots.

Could you try running a clean reinstall of the app by following these steps. This can be helpful to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble and will ensure that you're running the latest version of the app. We also suggest downloading the app again from the Microsoft Store.

On another note, thanks for letting us know about the board. We've gone ahead and moved this thread to the relevant Desktop Windows Help board 🙂

Keep us posted on how it goes.

That looks like an older version of the desktop app. If you go to About Spotify in the file menu options at the top of the Spotify window you should be able to see the version of Spotify. The latest version is 1.1.60
