My Question or Issue

I have noticed lately that when I play an "auto-generated" playlist, such as song radio or artist radio, that the list keeps changing after I have started the playback of that list, whenever I just view other content, such as another of my playlists, an artist or album page etc. While it keeps playing the currently playing song, the list itself has changed almost completely. While the position of the currently playing song seems to remain constant, the songs before and after have changed. This can mean that the same songs that I have already listened to, show up again later in the list and would be played again. This is rather annoying, especially when you are looking forward to some of the songs further down the list, and are now gone.

Hey @LostLittleRobot,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We can confirm is expected the behavior you kindly described: radio can change while you listen to it. What you can do to avoid losing some of the songs that might populate is add the playlist to the queue just before you go to the radio. You just need to hit the three dot menu in the radio> add to the queue.

I know this is an old thread but it I'm having the same issue and I'd like to see what "the idea" from the request linked is but the link is inaccessible. Is there any way to make spotify stop randomly changing the playlist as one listens to it besides adding the playlist to the queue?

Hey there @Soysoy,

Thanks for your reply and welcome to the thread.

I've edited the previous post, since the idea mentioned is not available anymore. It seems this behavior recently changed and, upon testing, I noticed that the radio playlist from a song remains unchanged even if I choose to see other content (on the desktop app and the mobile app).

In that sense, I’d like to gather some additional info to better understand what exactly is that you’re experiencing. Please send:

  • The make/model and OS of the affected device.
  • The exact Spotify version you’re running.
  • Does this happen when going to the Radio of a song? Or when the app is in Autoplay?
  • A video recording. You can attach the video to your next reply in mp4 format, or upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public.

Note: Be aware this is a public space, so please don't share any personal info on the screenshot you'll send us.

Well this is a bit weird but I'm trying to recreate the random radio of a song playlist changing and i cannot. I don't know if it's because i did the add playlist to queue thing before (i never manually added anything to queue before), and after clearing my queue it somehow fixed it, or what. But now the radio of a song playlists no longer change randomly mid playback.

Hey there @Soysoy,

Thanks for your reply.

We really appreciate the time you took to keep us in the loop. We’re happy to know you could sort this out and that the app is working as expected. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions.
