My Question or Issue

Hey!

Spotify on my computer updated yesterday. Before, when I add songs to playlists, they end up in the bottom of the playlist - but now they end up at the top. On my phone they end up at the bottom. I prefer to have added songs at the bottom of the playlist, is there any way of automatically having added songs at the bottom of an playlist?

Same. It's maddening. I know people complained before about songs being added to the bottom, but what we need is a way for users to choose where songs are added. I make playlists like mixtapes, and it's maddening for a song to be put at the top rather than the bottom.

You have to enter in the playlist, open the playlist settings menu and uou have to click on sort. Put the custom 'setting' and the songs will go to the bottom.

I don't understand what you mean.
Can't find a menu for playlist or to change it sorting settings to custom.

I leave the screenshots

O you are talking about the mobile app. There songs still get placed at the bottom of a playlist automatically.
The problem is that there was an update of the desktop app and now in the desktop app new songs are placed on top of the playlist instead of the bottom

Hey there everyone,

Thanks for posting, we'll gladly help you out.

You're able to sort your playlists by date added in increasing/ decreasing order on desktop. This support page has detailed instructions on how to do this.

If you don't see any of these options, it's possible that the app is malfunctioning due to a corrupted cache. This is usually resolved by performing a clean reinstall.

Hope this shines a bit of light on the matter. We'll be here if you have any other questions.

Hello Mihail,
Thank you for your response but i don't want to sort the playlist on "date added" but the custom ordering. Because songs i like more i place them manually near the top.

The whole problem is that with the desktop update from last week newly added songs are now added to the top of the playlist instead of the bottom. Before the update this was the case and i like it that way.

On mobile (android) this is still the case. When you add a songs there to an playlist it's still added at the bottom.

So what i want is that the desktop app goes back to it's old behavior and new songs are added to the bottom of a playlist.

In the new update checking on duplicates is also broken when you add multiple songs.
When you add 1 song the duplicate check still works, but with multiple they are all added and you don't get a pop-up if you want to add duplicates.
So there are more things broken in the new update.

Hi @Vitrix,

Thanks for the clarification.

If the functionality of your Desktop client has changed since the last update, this means that you're part of the New Desktop experience test. Our developers aim at improving the app and they're looking for direct user feedback. Head over to This Thread and add you feedback as a post there. This will help the team in developing a better Desktop app, that satisfies the user needs.

You'll find more info in the thread from above.

Hope you find this useful. Don't hesitate to give us a shout if you have more questions 🙂

Tnx for your reply Alex.
I see in a comment in that thread the following.

These have been fixed in the upcoming desktop release, Nov 30
“Adding a new track to a playlist puts it to the top instead of the bottom of a playlist”

So i will wait for monday and hope it will be fixed in that update 🙂
If it isn't fixed i will give feedback in that thread
