My Question or Issue
Hello there!
Recently I've came across some unpleasant issue. Spotify Connect (PC) stopped working for some reason. I still can use it when dealing with Web Version or Mobile App. But when it comes to PC... Nothing works. The "Connect to a device" option doesn't recognize any devices (my phone f.i.), and I can listen to different songs on PC app and Mobile App at the same time... The icing on the cake is inability to run my song as a discord status (seems like discord doesn't even see the activity on my account, when I use PC version).
I've tried to uninstall and install again, tried to connect discord to spotify again. Was a dead end. "Private session" is off. The settings are default.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thank you.
1.1.86 works perfectly fine, I just went back and my Discord integration works, and so does Spotify Connect to both my iPhone and Alexa. Definitely an issue with newer builds, if you need these features back, find Spotify 1.1.86 or older online and install it.
exactly what i am experiencing right now
I had the same issue until I downloaded the old version (1.1.74) for Spotify, works fine for me now.
Now that more people have encountered this problem, Spotify has not given any explanation and effective solution?
Same issue here. The September update (1.1.94.870) pretty much isolated the Desktop app from all the other synced instances on other devices.
All of the previously mentioned tips/solutions completely failed, and I had no choice other than to roll back to v1.1.86.857, since it's the only thing that works at the moment.
I'd say stay away from any build newer than 1.86 for the time being until this whole mess is sorted.
I've had this problem since I updated the desktop app a couple of days ago. I've been trying to solve for the past three hours and it's driving me INSANE.
I'll try going back to an older version. Can someone recommend a website to download it? This one I'm seeing looks sketchy.
Yes 1.1.86 works fine. Spotify wants to update itself often so just reinstall this over the top of a new install should that occur.

Thank you so much, King!
Automatic updates are annoying until this bug is resolved.
Spotify will automatically download update when updates are available. if reboot or reopen will update it.
so if you don't want reinstall every time. try this.

I solved this problem by switching to an earlier version of spotify
Since i updated today to the latest one (19th of September update) Spotify software is not recognised by other apps such Discord and web player also.
Hi everyone, It looks like they finally fixed the issue with the latest version. I just updated a few minutes ago(22 September) to Spotify for Windows 1.1.94.872.g7a9200fe. You can update your 1.1.86 now!
Also confirming that the latest 1.1.94.872 is back working for me too.
Hello again,
maybe I have to admit, that I've been a little bit to angry I guess.
Anyways, the Problem is fixed with the Patch that came earlier this Morning, at least for me.
Thanks and Greetings
Same problem here
Also experiencing the same issue, glad it wasn't just me. Spotify connect works when I use the Web player and mobile app. But desktop app doesn't exist to the Web/ Mobile app
Thanks for the posts.
Can you let us know what app version you've got at the moment?
Cheers.
