Spotify Desktop Windows 10 - Software does not start anymore

Dear All,

Suddenly, Spotify for Windows 10 (both the windows store app and the program) does not stary anymore. If I want to start Spotify, only the icon in the taskbar appears. I try to re-install both several times and also start it as an administrator. I also try to start the program in different compatibility modes.

Does anyone make the same experience? Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Steph

I have been having the same issue for a week now, so far no suggestions from this forum have helped (install/uninstall, clearing out caches, etc). Any input would be appreciated!

Same here. Two of my computers at home got the same problem.

I have started having an issue around this same time, but I can open the app and my account and switch between accounts on my family plan but when I try to play anything, I get an error on the blue banner that the "song is not available".

Okay, I just got my playback fixed.  Not sure how I did it, but I ran a windows update.  There were no updated for my sound drivers, but there was a Windows 10 update..  I updated and re-started.. Then I opened my iTunes and checked for updates since I have imported songs from iTunes on my Spotify.  There was a update (12.7.5.9) I downloaded and installed it and re-started my computer.

Now here is the weird part, while my PC was re-booting, I pulled up Spotify on my iPhone and started listening to a playlist.  When the PC cmame up and I opened Spotify, it seemed that the error was still there, BUT I noticed that the app saw that I was playing on my phone.  I clicked the device button and switched to "This Computer"  There was a pause and a small stutter in playback and then it started playing normally.  I shut down the app and re started it to see if it was a fluke, and it seems like the problem is fixed.

So....if you're having recent playback problems AND you recently had a software update AND you have imported music from iTunes  THEN  check your iTunes for a software update and put it in, then IF you also have an iPhone, try opening up a song on your phone then switch to the PC.

I dont know why this worked...
