Spotify Swithcing to C\Users\'username'\appdata Folder

My Question or Issue

Hello,

My IT department no longer allows Spotify on our Windows 10 PC's because the app is saved in the C\Users\'username'\appdata Folder, instead of C:\Program Files.  I was told Malware attacks frequently come from the C\Users\'username'\appdata Folder.  Is this really an issue?  Why did Spotify make this change?

Spotify has always been under %appdata% as long as I remember.

Their claim can be true, since some malware can inject itself in (for example) %appdata%/roaming/Windows, however Spotify is completely safe. 🙂

If the normal Spotify installation can't be used, I suggest trying out the Windows Store installation (search for Spotify Music in Windows Store), that one gets installed elsewhere.

If that fails as well, there is always the web player, which you can use in Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Opera.
