Spotify Web Player stops playing songs after 2 songs

Spotify Web Player stops playing songs after 2 songs

I am on a DOD computer and am trying to play spotify web player in the background while I work. After like 2 songs, the web player stops playing music and I need to reload the page just to keep listening because everything becomes unusable. I cannot download spotify on the computer.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll gladly help you get things working again.

Assuming that DOD is your employer, then that could be the direct explanation for the behaviour. Work computers almost always have varying security features implemented that limit access to certain web pages and strictly control what the computer can and cannot access. A lot of them come with VPNs or proxy servers too. If this applies to you, then this is most likely the cause, as we have observed many times that these security limitations often interfere with Spotify's ability to communicate with the servers, hence why you get behaviour like this.

Consider testing out if the web player works the same on a different Windows device without such restrictions. If it works fine, then it would seem that's the issue. In that case, try discussing with the respective IT department to see if it's possible to allow Spotify through the necessary firewall and proxy server settings to ensure it has proper access.

Hope this clears things up.

Are you new to the Community? Take a moment to introduce yourself!

You can download the 'offline spotify' installer here: http://download.spotify.com/SpotifyFullSetup.exe
This will let you install the Desktop Spotify App, however, Spotify Desktop App will try and authenticate your account by opening a web browser, confirming your credentials, and then re-launching the desktop app. This will not work since DISA puts our browser windows/tabs in a sandbox environment, preventing Spotify from authenticating back to the Desktop app.
Hopefully, this info can help someone else come up with a workaround.
