Spotify application is not responding

Solved!

Spotify application is not responding

I was listening to the Spotify app when I wanted to play a song from a custom Spotify playlist. after clicking play on the playlist it froze my app completely. I closed it to try and remedy this issue. When i attempt to reopen the app it just gives me the error alert that "The Spotify application is not responding". I can still listen via web player but it is missing the lyrics option and just isn't as convenient to use

Try to remove spotify of the boot apps.
Task manager / Boot Apps / Spotify / Disable

Currently battling this same issue as well. I am on Windows 11 on the windows store vers of spotify. My spotify just goes to a black screen now and before it was constantly being unresponsive and freezing whenever I played a song. I have done clean installs of both microsoft store and online downloads, cleared cache, modified my "hosts" file, disabled and re-nabled hardware acceleration, but not a single thing has worked.

In the end, it did resolve itself, not sure how or why. I uninstalled and re-installed it, the issue persisted, then one day started working again - so odd! glitch somewhere.

You need to clear the cache from the windows itself. So go to the file location of Spotify folder. You can mostly find this here
C:\Users\XYZ\AppData\Local
Delete entire Spotify folder from this location, it might hang your desktop, fingers crossed it should not. And after you are able to end process from task manager and deleting cache from this place, reinstall the Spotify. Should work.

what can i do, i also cannot see this option and im on windows 11

I am getting it too, when I click ctrl+shift+esc and clear task, my spotify doesn't open and keeps showing the "The spotify application is not responding."
Then, I have to reinstall the app but after 10 minutes or so, when I skip or pause a song, the app freezes and the next song stays at 0:00 forever 😞

With Spotify  pour Windows (64 bits) - 1.2.65.255.g85e641b4

same. Tried reinstalling, works the first/second time but then it stops working and appears the same message it appeared to you.

I know this is extreeemely late, but this just happened to me this morning ("Spotify app not responding" notification when trying to open it) and how I fixed it for myself was to open task manager. I noticed instances of spotify were already running, preventing the app from truly opening. I simply ended the task and was able to open it. I think the issue stemmed for me from trying to open spotify before my wifi was fully connected.

Thanks for the Late response. I appreciate it and I have already gotten it to work. Thanks again.
